Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) has proven to be a powerful tool in surface science. While the spatial resolution is extraordinary good, the time resolution is very low. Typical image acquisition times in conventional STM are on the order of 100 s. A significant increase in the frame rate opens new possibilities to study dynamic systems.1,21. O. Magnussen and M.
