Battling COVID-19: Harnessing the Values of Corporate Social Responsibility
There are more than usual challenges facing corporations this year – not just balance sheets and dividends, but how we are all responding to COVID-19. Despite the challenges COVID-19 has thrown our way, it’s been heartwarming to see how individuals, communities, companies and governments have come together to support each other. After all, we are all in this pandemic fight together and that’s why EPAM is rallying #TogetherAsOne to help as much as we can both globally and locally.
Want to Spark Innovation? Bring In the Red Team
What’s the number-one enemy of innovation? A workplace filled with homogenized thought. How do you protect against it? By assigning—and encouraging—dissent. It’s not enough to model better behaviors for your employees or push them through tired groupthink or old norms; you must formally and officially assign people to shake things up. You must bring in the red team.
Business And The Climate Emergency
This year, at the 2020 meeting of the World Economic Forum, the risks that the environmental crisis poses to the business were stated to have moved from ‘potentially problematic’ to ‘potentially catastrophic’. For readers of CEOWORLD magazine, this is vital.
International Women’s Day – It’s time for men to listen, reflect and change > CEOWORLD magazine
This year – and every year – as March rolls around, people and businesses around the world get ready to observe one of the most significant days of celebration in our calendar, International Women’s Day. But with it, comes the familiar objection: “But every day should be International Women’s Day”. Except, it’s not. And as a man in our society and in a leadership position, I have a significant role to play in correcting that.
Everything is Our Business: Defining Corporate Social Responsibility in the 21st Century
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a top priority for companies of all sizes – our business extends past our customers to affect the world in which we live. CSR dates at least as far back as the 1950s when economist Howard R.
Reimagining the C-Suite: Why the C-suite needs to change to reflect the changing times
The market demands that large companies innovate differently, embrace digital, create ecosystems and transform customer relationships at a breath-taking pace. Succeed, and the rewards may be exponential; fail, and irrelevance quickly follows. With disruption raising the stakes, shouldn’t the C-suite be optimally structured to rise to the challenge?
CEOWORLD magazine
I recently sat in on a team meeting with the senior lieutenants of a key function for a professional services company. Not knowing any of them, it occurred to me that there were no visual, outward signs to suggest who might be the leader. For decades, it was easy to spot the leader of any organization: a middle-aged white man dressed in a crisp business suit. But today? Not so much.
CEOWORLD magazine
When you own a business, you’re typically focused on doing the work itself and less on the tedious financial paperwork. Nevertheless, we probably don’t need to explain that it’s just as important as providing good quality products and services for your clients. Making mistakes in your invoices can lead to delayed payments and can undermine your professional image, decreasing your chances of accumulating repeat customers and building a good reputation.
How CEOs Can Deliver Long-Term Results While Squeezed by Short-Term Pressure
When CEOs are hired, they’re expected to deliver results right away. The most common window is 90 days, with a recent Brandpie survey showing that 78% of CEOs felt they had enough time to prove their worth. While delivering short-term wins, they must also plan for the long-term success of their companies. These conflicting tasks make it hard for CEOs to reach their goals. This trend stems from the uncertainty of the modern market after the financial crisis of 2008.
Here Are The World’s Most Powerful Countries In 2019
Unsurprisingly, the United States has retained its spot as the world’s most powerful country in 2019, according to an annual ranking, followed closely by Russia and China. The report describes the U.S. as the “most dominant economic and military power in the world.” America also has a large cultural impact on the world because of how its popular culture is expressed in music, movies, books, and TV shows.
Wise Leadership in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Are robots coming for your job? Yes and no. According to a Dell Technologies survey, 82% of leaders expect their employees and machines to work as “integrated teams”. And many employees look forward to artificial intelligence (AI) that can help them do their job better. But not everybody has such a rosy outlook. In Australia, the report “Australia’s Future Workforce” predicts about 40% of jobs could be lost to robotics, automation and artificial intelligence in the next 10-15 years.
Is Turkey Ready to Claim the Title as a Powerhouse in the Performance-Based Textile Industry?
The Turkish textile industry has been around for centuries with export textile sales being a part of the country’s GDP for decades. Yet, over the past several years, Turkey’s performance-based textile exports have increased significantly due to the thriving sportswear industry in the European and U.S. markets.

Between A Rock And A Hard Place: Cash Deposits Vs. Standby Letters Of Credit
Failing tenants can be a nightmare for commercial real estate landlords. At best, the tenants will leave the premises voluntarily, possibly resulting in months of lost rent as well as various costs (e.g., broker, buildout) to replace the tenants. At worst, the tenants will refuse to vacate voluntarily, so additional costs related to legal fees, court appearances and delays will be borne by the landlord.
The ESP Of Implementing Change
After all the years I have spent translating the change agendas of organizations into the daily activities of their employees, I realize there is no silver bullet, no single solution to managing change. Change is the only constant. The key to successful mobilization, then, lies in the ability to demystify strategies and translate them meaningfully into the daily activities of every employee.
Column: City of Union proud of progress in 2016
It has been one year since our new administration took office. In July I issued the State of Union, Kentucky, for the first six months in office. I would like to issue the State of Union, Kentucky, for the second six months of our first year in office. • Changed look by changing city logo and more recently painting office and purchasing new furniture. • City Administrator (David Martin) was hired at first meeting in January. • Built cooperation among commissioners.
Bad Cuban Medicine
The shelves in the neighbourhood pharmacy, like those in the other neighbourhood pharmacies I had seen in Havana, were half empty and full of dust, the small selection of medicines on display arranged in lonely rows of old-fashioned little bottles. Customers were as scarce as the medicines. One bottle on a shelf contained a fungicide, another aloe ointment. A third countered diarrhea. The odds of finding a specific medicine to treat a particular malady were vanishingly small.
