Opinion: Thank God the ‘good guy with a gun’ broke that foolish law!
Thank God the “good guy with a gun” broke the foolish laws passed five years ago by Bend Schools because he saved lives at Silver Rail Elementary. The man shot and neutralized a 16-year-old who had used a pump-action shotgun to kill three young students and a teacher. Reports say the “good guy” is the father of a student at the school. My family's prayers go out to those who lost their loved ones at Silver Rail and to those with critical injuries from an incident that didn’t need to happen.
Opinion: What kind of creeps hang a dozen teenage girls out to dry?
Editor’s note – The name of the Camas athlete who switched teams this season has been removed from this opinion. Clark County Today is continuing its pursuit of information surrounding this issue. To this point, Camas officials have refused to answer Clark County Today’s questions. What kind of creepy adults would hang a dozen teenage girls out to dry? Adult decisions forced more than half the Camas High School girls' cross-country team to walk off the course yesterday.
Opinion: Don't make the girls do the work to fix an adult problem
If you need another reason to vote yes on initiative 638 in Washington State, I can give you a couple. Lars Larson Two girls from Skyview High School named Charlie Garrett and Sierra Retzlaff.
Opinion: The myth of ‘affordable housing’
Single-party rule in Oregon and Washington has thrown away hundreds of millions of dollars in the name of “affordable housing.” Last week, the Wall Street Journal confirmed what many of us have warned for years … affordable housing is a crazy, expensive myth.
Federal Judge Protects Oregon’s Voter Fraud System
We find ourselves in an election year, with Oregon authorities fighting tooth and nail to protect the state’s fraudulent voting system. And now a federal judge is helping in the cover-up. What do we know for a fact? More than a year ago, Oregon found thousands of foreign citizens registered to vote. Then the Trump administration pressured the state to remove registered voters who did not appear to exist—meaning they were signed up to vote, but most had not voted for at least a decade.
Criminal Alien of the Week Report: January 26th, 2026
Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report January 26, 2026 By David Olen Cross The “Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report” in the last week of January 2026 has for northwest regional and national radio listeners and website followers a report on an felonious armed foreign national illegally present in the country. This alien’s criminal case was adjudicated in a U.S. District Court in the state of Oregon.
Tina’s latest tax trickery
Democrats remain desperate to pry loose billions in new taxes from Oregonians. And their newest move in the upcoming legislative session aims to force voters to decide the fate of a big tax measure sooner. Remember that last fall, Democrats passed a 4 billion dollar tax and fee hike. Citizens immediately gathered three times the number of signatures needed to refer that to the ballot, despite efforts by Governor Tina Kotek to sabotage the referendum.
Saline Sympathy For Illegals, For LEO Not So Much
Do you suppose Portland’s weepy police Chief shed any tears last night when two of his own officers got shot? Remember that less than two weeks ago, Bob Day choked up and wet his cheeks on camera with saline sympathy for illegal aliens living in America’s most notable sanctuary city. Chief Day’s emotional performance came during a press conference that included the Mayor and Governor after two suspected illegal alien gang members got shot while trying to attack ICE agents with a pickup truck.

Unemployment cash for strikers breaks the rules
It turns out the democrat plans in Oregon and Washington to reward striking workers with unemployment cash has a fatal flaw.
Half a billion for a school three-quarters empty with majority learning failure?
If you REALLY need another reason to flee with your kids from failing government schools in Portland, I’ve got a doozy. Right now, students who live near Jefferson High School get some choice…Grant, McDaniel, or Roosevelt. But the school board JUST voted to take away that choice and force kids unlucky enough to live near an empty school that’s about to get a lot emptier to go there. You see, the district has already contracted almost half a billion dollars to rebuild Jeff to hold 17-hundred.
Deportation cuts rents but not in Sanctuary States
Liberal Northwest politicians won’t like it, but Donald Trump is doing more to fix housing affordability in America than all their multi-billion dollar subsidy programs put together. Face it, housing is just like anything else in our economy: supply and demand. What brings the rent DOWN? Cut demand. Trump has done that by exiting two and a half million illegals in the last 12 months. That frees up about 800-thousand housing units.
Chief “Boo Hoo” Bobby Day sheds a tear for Tren De Aragua
Folks, I never thought I’d see the day when the police Chief of a major American city would shed tears over the plight of notorious criminal suspects. That’s just what people all over this country saw on television as Chief Bobby “boo hoo” Day got all leaky after ICE agents shot two members of the hyper violent Venezuelan gang, Tren De Aragua.

New I5 Bridge Boondoggle estimate: up to $17B
The sheer arrogance of people who draw public paychecks takes your breath away…but a shocker is on the way today. It involves the single largest public works project in the Pacific Northwest, the proposed interstate bridge replacement.
Should Trimet try a Somali style daycare?
Portland’s hopeless, hapless transit agency Trimet has been circling the financial drain for years. Now, the sucking sound you hear signals its imminent demise. Start with the 850 million bucks Trimet lost last year. Add to it the insane multi billion dollar light rail system that always costs more and delivers far less than promised.
Biden agreed with Trump on Maduro, so why aren’t liberals celebrating?
Help me figure out the outrage of American Democrats after the removal and retrieval of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro to face charges in New York City this morning. Venezuelans in America and here in Portland are celebrating. And why not? Consider the bipartisan agreement on the need to prosecute this criminal. President Trump put a price on Maduro’s head of $15 million. Joe Biden jacked up that reward to $25 million. Then last year, Trump boosted it to $50 million.

So, you want flood control and electricity…or more political correctness?
Life’s about choices. You can see the result of that today as the entire region gets hit by wind storms and more rain than we’ve seen in a long time and choices by our so-called leaders left a big mess. Citizens watch their roads and houses wash away. I’m not suggesting you can legislate meteorology. But lawmakers could make some smarter choices to prepare the region for floods and storms.
Boondoggle Bridge bozos offer BS instead of budget updates!
If you tolerate lies and dishonesty from the government, you’re guaranteed more. Think about that as you absorb today’s news that government officials from Oregon and Washington have REFUSED to tell the people’s representatives the estimated cost of the Interstate Bridge Replacement. A dozen years ago, these cheats promised lawmakers in both states the bridge would cost 3.5 to maybe 5 billion.

A double murder that may be “All in the family”
Someone slit the throats of legendary Hollywood actor, director, and producer Rob Reiner and his wife this weekend in their Los Angeles home. Americans knew Reiner for producing movies like “A few good men” and his time playing “meathead” on television’s “All in the family”. Now, police investigating the murders have focused on Reiner’s son, Nick who had battled drug addiction for some time.
Blood on the highways fails to move Ferguson and Kotek
The only conclusion you can reach today is that Governors Bob Ferguson and Tina Kotek plan to ignore the dead bodies piling up from illegal aliens driving big rig trucks on phony licenses. Licenses the states of Oregon and Washington issued to those illegals.. The latest incidents… A 6 car pileup near Lacey, Washington a week ago included a school bus with kids and three people sent to the hospital. Another crash involving an illegal CDL that ended the lives of a newlywed couple in Oregon.
Iran and Egypt not crazy about Seattle’s gay soccer match
I’ve found that Northwest liberals LOVE to lecture the rest of us about “cultural competency”. Heck, they demand that cops, firefighters and paramedics take indoctrination on not offending folks from other cultures. So how do you explain the city of Seattle announcing its June 26th soccer game that’s part of the World Cup will be a “pride match” with gay celebrations planned. Guess who’s invited to play? Iran and Egypt…Muslim countries where anything LGBTQ is illegal.
Sticks and stones….
You might think the Constitution guarantees you equal treatment under the law. So did I, at one point. But don’t try telling that to a Multnomah County trial jury. Last week, that jury acquitted a man who stabbed another man. The stabber admitted to police he did the deed. The stabbing itself was caught on video. Gary Edwards already had a bad history of crimes when he attacked Gregory Howard in broad daylight near the Union station MAX stop.
Fish first, or people, that’s the dam question?
The biggest news story today and this week in the Pacific Northwest is the so-called atmospheric river of rain headed our way. 4 to 7 inches of rain dumping in the next few days means bad news for folks in flood prone areas. But what do so-called environmentalists demand from the region? Tear out all the dams.

Portland black students get a participation trophy
The board that directs Portland Public schools decided unanimously this week to blow 60 million bucks to buy and renovate a building for “black student excellence” instead of simply teaching black students how to read, write and do math. Think of it as a participation trophy. I’m amazed that Portland’s black parents and educators are NOT apoplectic but by all accounts, they’re not. Then consider what they could have done with far less money and actual teaching.
2K PDX APTS SIT EMPTY?
Politicians in the Pacific Northwest find it popular to talk about “affordable housing”. They know everyone enjoys paying LESS for a place to live. So why does Portland have nearly two thousand government-subsidized apartments sitting empty? BECAUSE of the government. Nowhere is that more clear than Portland. Vacancy in private sector apartments is 7 percent…not too bad. You can ACTUALLY rent a place. But in Housing Forward subsidized units? Twice the vacancy at 14%. The difference? Paperwork.
The Mayor’s big homeless shelter fail
Judging by the unrelentingly liberal words of the Daily Dead Fishwrapper, Oregon Live, lots of folks want to pat Portland Mayor Keith Wilson on the back and tell him “attaboy”. Not me. Wilson ran on the promise of clearing drug addicted, dangerous and mentally ill homeless off the Rose City’s streets…starting by creating 15-hundred shelter beds by a deadline this week. The Fishwrap claims Wilson made it happen.

Lawmakers ignore the will of citizens and a little girl dies
You might think Oregonians enjoy a government that represents them but the evidence proves otherwise. And a little 8 year old girl is dead at least in part because of that. 11 years ago this month, Oregon voters said “no” to illegal alien drivers’ licenses by a two to one margin. The only reason they had to say “no” so loudly was that Oregon lawmakers approved alien licenses 2 to 1, one year earlier. Some representation, huh? Did those lawmakers listen to voters? Hell, no.

Senator, tell us, how did you wife not notice losing $655k
Imagine how rich you’d have to be to fail to notice your personal assistant stealing two-thirds of a million dollars in just 2 years. That’s almost a thousand dollars a day, and that’s Nancy Bass, wife of the United States Senator Ron Wyden, who lives in New York City. Senator Wyden, who’s never had a real job outside of politics, is somehow a multi-millionaire after his decades of so-called government service.
Kotek faces a choice to fess up to extortion or admit the lie
In the next couple of weeks, certainly before Christmas, Governor Kotek faces a tough choice: Does she admit she lied to citizens. You see, just a few months ago Kotek’s ODOT threatened Oregonians that money troubles gave it no choice but to lay off almost 500-people who keep the roads passable. Most of us know they lied…that there’s plenty of money in a bloated bureaucracy with 5-thousand employees.
Kotek Sprints for Biden’s Green Cash While Oregon’s Real Problems Rot
Here’s some advice you can take to the bank: never put yourself between Tina Kotek and a federal tax dollar…you’ll think you’ve been hit by a Max Train. While Kotek moves like molasses when it comes to the actual problems of her state…like crime, housing and schools…when she sees available “green energy tax credits” that boosts her to warp speed.
Boondoggle bridge blocks waterway, bribes required!
Ready for the latest insane waste of your tax dollars? Plans for the latest and soon to fail Interstate Bridge Replacement propose to build a span more than 60 feet too low…and, just announced this week, it plans to bribe Northwest businesses. The bribe? 140-million to compensate for business they’ll lose when the brand-new, same-size-as-the-old-one, boondoggle bridge blocks the river. Federal funding has disappeared. Oregon and Washington must pay for most of it and they’re just about flat broke.
Broken promises and Tina’s chickens come home to roost
Less than a year remains in the reign of Queen Kotek…or Tent City Tina as many of us know her. It’s time the media that covers Kotek starts demanding she explain all her broken promises. Kotek promised voters transparency on government actions and that’s her biggest failure…she won’t tell the citizens she allegedly serves what’s going on.

Meet Democracy’s biggest Oregon enemy
Tina Kotek claims she’s a democrat but her latest machinations show she’s an enemy of democracy. The Governor announced, yesterday, that she had finally signed a massive new tax bill passed way back in September. Kotek called it an emergency. Tina used an agency she controls, ODOT, to threaten citizens with loss of critical services if she didn’t extort four billion in new taxes. Yet she delayed signing the emergency bill for nearly a month and a half.
Oregon Governor Refuses to Fund Food Stamps, Blames Trump for Democrats’ Shutdown
How do you like the hypocritical hype coming from Oregon’s inept Governor Tina Kotek on Food Stamps. Kotek, now back from her 200-thousand dollar taxpayer funded junket to Asia, wants citizens to think the cutoff of food stamps came from the Evil Orange man in the White House. “Tent City” Tina could be honest and blame her own Democrat Party which voted “no” in the U.S. Senate to set off the longest shutdown of the federal government in all of American history.

Hysteria over ICE hits new heights in the PNW
The Northwest’s level of panic over something as ordinary as cops enforcing laws reached new hysterical heights yesterday. Two Portland schools announced they had locked down students inside the buildings. Did an active shooter or a toxic chemical spill prompt this? NOPE! Schools acted based…wait for it…rumors that federal immigration authorities might be in the neighborhood. ICE has made it clear, it doesn’t raid schools.
A Commie in Gotham…
Last night’s elections speak volumes about the Democrat party. A communist elected Mayor in Gotham…in Virginia, a new attorney general who wishes his opponent shot in the head and his children to die in their mother’s arms. California voters gave gerrymandering power to Gavin Newsom. You know you’re in trouble when the “good news” is that Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell might beat even more liberal Katie Wilson. Portland voters approved a 75% increase in taxes for an abysmally run parks department.

Riot City tries stalling the National Guard
The same Portland leadership that ran the whole city into the ditch over the last five years now wants to stall the arrival of the National Guard. And stall is all it amounts to. Let’s review. President Trump activated the Oregon national guard just a month ago. That came after Portland City Hall encouraged a siege of ICE offices for more than a hundred days. Then a cooperative liberal federal Judge, Karen Immergut issued a temporary restraining order.
