The coaching staff evaluation Mike McCarthy spoke about in his end-of-season press conference Monday evidently produced the belief that two coaches were not getting the job done. According to tweets from Green Bay Packers beat Reporters Michael Cohen and Tom SIlverstein, Running Backs coach Sam Gash and Tight Ends coach Jerry Fontenot were let go Tuesday. Gash was with the Packers for two seasons and most likely was done in by the disappointing season from Eddie Lacy.
In addition to the previously reported blocking of the St. Louis Rams from interview quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt for their vacant offensive coordinator position, the Green Bay Packers have also denied access to two more teams, according to Jason LaCanfora of CBS: Alex Van Pelt was coveted coach this year - and will be again next year I figure. Packers blocked CHI, JAX and STL from interviewing for.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and guard Josh Sitton were named first-team All-NFL by the Pro Football Writers of America on Monday. Rodgers and Sitton were the only Packers players named to the All-NFL team. The Dallas Cowboys—the team the Packers beat in the divisional round of the playoffs on Sunday—had the most representatives with four players: wide receiver Dez Bryant, center Travis Frederick, running back DeMarco Murray and tackle Tyron Smith.
