Laszlo Cseh Going for 2020 Olympic Team (Video)
Italian Piero Codia went out for it in the men’s 100 fly, providing some outside smoke on the opening 50 out of lane 8 with a split of 23.42. The fire didn’t go out coming home, as he had the fastest back-half in the field as well (27.22) to win gold in a time of 50.64. That crushes his Italian Record of 51.09, and also gets under Laszlo Cseh‘s 50.86 meet record from 2016. He now sits 2nd in the world for 2018 behind only American Caeleb Dressel (50.50).

Chad le Clos Beats Laszlo Cseh Again in Italy
South African Chad le Clos won a 2nd big showdown with Hungarian rival Laszlo Cseh on Saturday in Italy. In Friday’s 100 fly, Le Clos won pretty handily (by 1.3 seconds), but most of that margin came on the second 50. As the splitting of that race would indicate, the 50 fly was much more competitive at the finishing touch, but the order was the same: Le Clos would win in 23.94, followed by Cseh in 24.09. Once again, Cseh had a busier day than did Le Clos.

Milak Posts 51.5 100 Fly, Kesely Wins Twice on Day 4 of Hungarian Nats
The 2018 Hungarian National Championships have concluded, and Kristof Milak has put down another impressive swim. In the men’s 100 fly, Milak posted a 51.50, well ahead of 2nd place Laszlo Cseh (52.46). While that time is off of Milak’s Hungarian record of 50.62 from last summer, it puts him fourth in the world rankings this season. Milak also raced the 50 back, taking the title in 25.23, just ahead of Bence Szentes (25.25). Milak turned 18 in February.

Kesely Wins Round 2 Against Kapas At Hungarian Nationals
18-year-old Kristof Milak set off fireworks last night with his 1:52.71 200m fly stunner and, although the teen was back at it today at the Hungarian National Championships, he didn’t make quite as much noise. The pair matched winning times of 23.84, with Krisztian Takacs taking silver in 23.91.

Laszlo Cseh Misses Podium at Euro SC Champs for 2nd Time in Career
Hungarian swimmer Laszlo Cseh might be known as the best male swimmer we’ve ever seen – if he hadn’t run head-on into the best male swimmer we’ve ever seen (Michael Phelps) and another who on the basis of accomplishments has a strong case for top 3 (Ryan Lochte) – both of whom are about the same age as the 32-year old Cseh. In spite of the battles he faced throughout his career against his two American counterparts, Cseh has amassed an incredible resume of international success.
