Prediabetes is diagnosed when a person has a blood glucose (blood sugar) level higher than normal, but not high enough to be considered having diabetes.
Religion that harms
“I don’t know if you’re truly saved because you all aren’t acting like you’re saved. I pray that the Lord will convict you of your rebellious spirits,” my science teacher said harshly. We all just rolled our eyes because this was the hundredth time this teacher said this to us, and it was only two months into eighth grade. “God put authorities in place over you for a reason, so disobeying us would be the same as disobeying God,” another teacher regularly reminded us.
The greatest gift - a living will
No one wants to talk about his or her death or to contemplate the decisions to be made at the end of life. We are not getting out of this earthly experience alive, but while we are alive, we have an opportunity, and some would say a duty to give direction and peace to our physicians and our loved ones regarding our wishes in the provision, refusal or withholding of medical treatments and procedures at the end of life. It is one of the greatest gifts we can provide.

By building muscle mass, you actually improve your body’s proprioception — it’s ability to tell where it is in space. An upper level rider who I have A LOT of the respect for told me I should do a blog post on improving balance, so here it is. The best way to improve your balance on a horse…is to ride as much as you can.
Calculator - Edunomics Lab
Why don’t I see my district listed? The calculator relies on data inputs including the percentage of the 20-21 year spent remote or hybrid. Where we were unable to access that or other information, a district won’t be listed. Districts can also measure their actual student learning to assess the magnitude of their losses. Feel free to email our administrator for questions about any specific district. Why is there a zero listed for my district’s federal relief allocation?

Fewer students are attending public schools. What does that mean for the future of school district finances?
U.S. public school enrollment fell 3% in the 2020-21 school year. District budgets are based on how many students they serve, so falling enrollments would normally mean less money for schools. But thanks to nearly $190 billion in federal COVID relief aid, the majority of districts are protected from enrollment losses for at least the next two years.

Each year at this time, the wonderful folks and Super Smile Team at Artistic Dentistry in Hanover send me their press release about National Children’s Dental Month, which is celebrated annually in February. AROUND TOWN | LAURA ANDERSON Mad about ads - a commercial connoisseur
One of the benefits of having on-demand streaming and television service is the ability to skip through commercials. For decades we were denied the ability to skip ahead from one segment to another, bypassing such classic commercials as “Plop plop, fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is” and "My baloney has a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R." Maybe that’s why those commercials are so ingrained in our psyche.
LAURA ANDERSON: The beginning of the end, a light on the horizon
I was a child when I first heard the phrase, "The darkest hour is just before dawn." It was a chapter heading in one of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s novels, "On the Banks of Plum Creek." It didn’t make sense to me at the time. Weren’t all the hours of nighttime the same darkness before dawn? Why should 5 a.m. be any darker than 2 a.m.? And the chapter itself didn’t have anything to do with nighttime or dawn. For a child, the use of the phrase was confusing.
