CT Pastors When our four children were between 2 and 6 years old, we would hear feet on the stairs nearly every night from our bed. We tried, for amusement, to guess which child by cadence of footfall. A little face with big eyes would appear at my bedside. We delivered what was needed to get back to sleep—song, blanket, dry pajamas, snuggle, explanation of the weird sound—tangible reassurance of our presence and care. They came with needs they could not meet within themselves.
