Qassem on Martyrs’ Day: Resistance’s strength lies in “faith and will”
TEHRAN - Martyrs’ Day within the Resistance community has grown into more than an occasion of remembrance; it stands as a reaffirmation of faith and defiance — a living testament that martyrdom extends life and that sacrifice remains the foundation of dignity and national defense.
Rising tensions in Syria’s northeast: What is driving US military activity?
BEIRUT – More than seven months after the March 10 agreement between Syria’s de facto ruler Ahmad al-Sharaa (al-Jolani) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) commander Mazloum Abdi, the deal lies in tatters. Despite pledges to reduce its presence, Washington has intensified both diplomatic and military activity in northeastern Syria. CENTCOM officials, including Admiral Brad Cooper, are mediating to ensure gradual SDF–Syrian army integration.
Voices of resistance dominate Beirut forum
BEIRUT — The 34th session of the Arab National Conference opened in Beirut on Friday with the participation of more than 250 political, intellectual, and academic figures from across the Arab world. The gathering aimed to reassess the Arab nationalist project, articulate a collective strategy to confront Western hegemony and normalization with Israel, and reaffirm support for resistance movements in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, and other scenes of confrontation.
If Lebanon was truly free, students would have shut down US spy den
BEIRUT — If Lebanon was not a “corrupt state,” its students would have long ago shut down the den of “diplomatic occupation” masquerading as the American Embassy in Awkar, just as Iranian students did in 1979 when they stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran and declared a second revolution to defend their nation’s dignity.
Dirrick Williams’ anti-racism course centers students’ emotional responses to racism as a way to build co-conspirators for a more equitable world.
THINK BACK TO THE SUMMER OF 2020. Months into an international pandemic lockdown, with the promise of vaccines still off on the horizon, we lived stratified, isolated lives. So-called “essential workers” shouldered the brunt of the risk while others were lucky enough to continue working from home. On May 28, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control announced that the U.S. Covid-19 death toll had surpassed 100,000 people.
As the Page Turns: "Me and White Supremacy"
Hi, I’m Jane O’Keeffe; I’m writing a monthly book review for the Lake County Examiner. Here’s a little background information about me. I live in Adel on a ranch with my husband John. My son Patrick, his wife Aja, and the three best grandsons in the world are close by. Our other son Henry, his wife Lissa and their children live in Eugene (their children are pretty spectacular too).
To Own Whiteness
At school, I would sometimes be approached in the playground by children I didn’t know. I must have been about seven or eight. Appearing in front of me, they would call me racist names. Then they wandered away. I don’t remember being distressed by these incidents. Sometimes, though, children came over to tell me that they weren’t racist. They knew that racism existed; they even told me about the racist things that other people said.

Most 2020 books - The Washington Post
“That’s so 2020,” people collectively heaved, again and then again, during a year ravaged by a global pandemic, climate crises and political and social dissent. A year that is, finally, almost over. As our worlds careened off the cliffs of normalcy, some books were so prescient — so very well timed — that you had to wonder: What did these authors know that we didn’t?

The 10 Most Extreme "Critical Race Theory" Classes & Trainings At US Colleges
Authored by Jezzamine Wolk via Campus Reform, President Donald Trump recently instructed federal agencies to end training related to “White Privilege” or “Critical Race Theory," calling them “anti-American propaganda.” “These types of ‘trainings’ not only run counter to the fundamental beliefs for which our Nation has stood since its inception, but they also engender division and resentment within the Federal workforce,” Director of the Office of Management and Budget Russell Vought wrote in...
Bestselling Author Robin DiAngelo Actively Supports Black-owned Bookstores
Over the years I’ve asked many authors, whose work I've been extremely supportive of, through book sales and promotion, to provide a link to AALBC, or any Black-owned bookseller's site, as an option for visitors to buy their books. This simple action does not typically occur to most authors, and certainly to no publisher. Usually when I ask an author to add a buy link to AALBC, they do it, and express embarrassment for not doing it sooner.

30 Books to Help You Understand & Dismantle Racism
Black people never forget about racism, because it’s a bright red thread stitched into America’s fabric, showing up in schools, neighborhoods, houses of worship and offices. Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd’s deaths were the last straw for folks who, in the words of civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer, are “sick and tired of being sick and tired.” For others, it is a wakeup call to stop pretending that racism doesn’t exist.

The Problem with Saying "All Lives Matter" as a Response to "Black Lives Matter"
Layla F. Saad is the author of the book and workbook Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor. This piece is adapted from an interview conducted with OprahMag.com's Culture Editor, Elena Nicolaou. Saying “All Lives Matter” feels like a weapon. It may not be a consciously wielded weapon, but it is a weapon to silence, to shut up. A weapon to undermine what Black people are trying to say.

Recognizing Implicit Racial Bias
Featured, Getting Feedback, Radical Candor Like many white people, I have been thinking about how I can best actively be engaged in the Black Lives Matter movement and dismantle systemic racism in the U.S. One thing I think white people can do to become more antiracist in this moment (and going forward) is to be candid with ourselves and others about the racist things we have said and done in the past.

10 Books About Racial Discrimination We Should All Be Reading Right Now
While we all continue to witness the disturbing and unjust treatment of African Americans in the United States, it's easy to feel powerless on how we can help when it comes to racial injustice. And as we recognise that the same notions of police brutality also occur on Australian soil, now is the time to prioritise teaching ourselves and others how to put an end to racial discrimination.

Yet again, the world is outraged at another Black life lost. People are posting online, and the media is in a frenzy. Yet it wasn’t lost, it was forcibly taken. George Floyd was murdered by white US police officer, Derek Chauvin, and in reality, it’s not a shock or even “unbelievable.” It happens often, and black people have been shouting it from the rooftops for decades.
