Writing is the backbone of journalism, so it's important to practice as much as possible.Practice your interviewing skills. Being able to conduct a good interview is crucial to getting the information you need for your articles. Learn different mediums. Journalism has moved onto a digital platform, so it's important to learn different ways to tell stories, such as video, audio, and photojournalism. Look for writing/editing internships or pre-college programs. This is a great way to gain experience and make connections in the industry. Always stay informed. Information is constantly changing, so it's important to keep up with the latest updates.Other tips include being skeptical of everything, letting your work speak for itself, and learning how to write well. It's also important to consider all aspects of the job, including the low pay and long hours, before pursuing a career in journalism. Finally, don't be afraid to switch to a different career if journalism isn't a good fit for you.
