1 INTRODUCTION Pollinators are a lynchpin of global food supply, approximately one-third of which is contributed by bee-pollinated crops (Khalifa et al., 2021). Despite this, there is extensive evidence that the agricultural intensification required to feed the expanding human population is a major driver of pollinator decline (Aizen et al., 2022; Goulson et al., 2008, 2015; Murray et al., 2009).
