Letter: Rob Port's logic is flawed
In a recent column, Rob Port writes, "Reacting to the shooting of Renee Good by federal ICE agents in Minneapolis, what did we expect we were going to get when President Donald Trump and his administration are making a choice to enforce the law in the most aggressive, provocative way possible?" The most powerful politicians in our nation watched an American get gunned down by law enforcement and didn't pause, for even a moment, to consider whether it was justified. That’s terrifying.
Letter: Actions speak louder than words
Did you know our National Guard serves a dual role? They support both domestic emergencies and overseas military operations. It's a state-level military force that can be called upon by governors for state emergencies or by the president for federal missions. This includes responding to natural disasters. So, why hasn't Gov. Armstrong sent them to help tornado victims? We've got a photo-op here in Enderlin, but no boots, bulldozers, or excavators for debris removal and infrastructure repair.
Letter: Injection photos may be preventing people from getting vaccinated
We all know what an injection looks like. Why do we need to see them all the time in our media coverage? Gina Romano of San Jose, California, wrote the following to columnist Marilyn Vos Savant in the Nov. 28th issue of Parade magazine: “Do you have any insight into why so many Americans decline vaccination? I don’t believe the reason is political.
Letter: Let me fix that headline for you
Words matter. In relation to the article with the headline “ Head Start programs expect to lose more staff to vaccine mandates ,” this is of course technically true and a good informative article.
Letter: Forum photographer grabbed the perfect shot of an outstanding Bison play
North Dakota State's Destin Talbert makes an end zone interception against James Madison during their NCAA FCS semifinal football playoff game Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, in Fargo. Michael Vosburg/Forum Communications Co. When high expectations become the norm, it can be easy to overlook a great performance. Take North Dakota State University cornerback Destin Talbert’s one-handed interception in the end zone during Friday’s semi-final game against James Madison University.
Letter: 'The Bluest Eye' has no place in required reading assignments
It was brought to my attention that a highly controversial book, “ The Bluest Eye ,” is being used in Fargo's high school curriculum. In particular, Fargo North High School A parent's daughter was given this book as a required reading assignment. Why in the world would a book depicting graphic incest and child molestation be used in a high school curriculum? And what sick individual gives this garbage as a “reading assignment “ to impressionable little girls?
Letter: North Dakota makes yet another top 10 list
December 21, 2021 10:37 AM Through remarkable leadership by Gov. Burgum and our Republican legislature, North Dakota has reached No. 2 among the states in per capita COVID infections. We may yet overcome No. 1 Tennessee. Contending to become the sickest state in the country is no small feat. You need to keep vaccinations low through ensuring that they are not required and to keep people from wearing masks when out in public.
Letter: Hate crime ordinance is repugnant
Fargo is at it again. Our city seems to have a knack for creating fanciful solutions to fictitious problems. In recent weeks we've seen gun play, murders, stabbings, violent assaults, and the vicious, unprovoked deadly assault on 14-year-old Jupiter Paulsen in broad daylight, is turning this once very safe city into something of a nightmare.
Letter: The city of Fargo will pay almost $100K for 'wokeness'
Letters On June 1, the City Commission will vote to approve a lucrative contract for the top pick for their shiny new "director of diversity, equity (not to be confused with equality) and inclusion” spot. Written By: Leon Francis | 12:31 pm, May 28, 2021 × Leon Francis Did you know that while most states are crafting laws to combat the spread of critical race theory, that Fargo is working very hard to give it top billing in our city? It’s true.
Forum should check the validity of letter-writer's claims
The speaker began with a story of his wayward and misguided past and how his journey to becoming a good husband and father of three started by letting Christ into his heart.
