CSS Winner ×9 — Site of the Day

2017 - Site of the Day

In the years leading up to 2018, before Sponge Digital & Design was transformed into Deep Digital Co, our digital work received nine Site of the Day awards from CSS Winner. Founded in 2010, CSS Winner is an international web design awards platform showcasing outstanding work by digital agencies, designers, and developers from around the world. Projects are evaluated across design, usability, content, and functionality, with the professional judging panel accounting for 80% of the final assessment. Between 2015 and 2017, Sponge D&D accumulated 21 nominations, 6 Stars, and 9 Site of the Day awards — recognition of the agency’s work across digital design, development, interaction, and user experience. The nine awarded projects included Sponge Digital & Design, Promo of Kvadrat, Furgoneta, Carts Guru, Trendon Store, White Tetris, Bizzgrid, M1 Club Hotel, and Pivovarov. This recognition became part of the professional foundation that continued under Deep Digital Co after the transformation of the company.

SPONGE D&D — 28 FEATURED ON BEHANCE

2017 - FEATURED ON BEHANCE

Awards are useful when they stop being isolated trophies and start revealing a pattern. Under my creative direction, from 2013 to 2018, the Sponge D&D Behance account grew into a concentrated portfolio of around 40 published projects — and received 28 curated Behance features. Behance is one of the world’s central professional communities for designers, illustrators, motion artists, 3D specialists and digital creators. A Feature is not an automated badge: projects are selected by the platform’s curators from an enormous global stream of work. The largest part of our recognition came from Web Design / UI/UX — 20 features. At the time, we were building websites not as decorated pages, but as complete digital experiences: interface architecture, interaction, typography, animation, storytelling and technology working as one system. Many of the same websites were independently recognized by Awwwards, CSS Design Awards, CSS Winner, Golden Site and numerous other competitions, while repeatedly appearing in international design selections and professional media. Another 5 features came from Motion Graphics. This mattered because motion was still becoming a serious discipline inside digital agencies. We were already experimenting with complex 2D, 3D, interface animation and cinematic product presentations at a level closer to game and specialized production studios than conventional web agencies. At the top were 2 Best of Behance selections — the blue flagship recognition reserved for standout projects selected across creative disciplines. One more feature came from Branding. For me, the important number is not 28. It is the consistency behind it. When independent juries, curators and professional communities repeatedly select different projects, across different disciplines and years, the result stops looking like luck.

Pivovarov — AWWWARDS Site of the Day & Dev Award

2017 - Site of the Day & Dev Award

Artem Pivovarov is one of Ukraine’s most recognized contemporary music artists, known for combining mainstream success with a strong visual identity and distinctive creative direction. Our team designed and developed a custom platform that combined artist branding, advanced frontend engineering, motion design, interactive storytelling, animation systems, visual effects, custom transitions, media presentation, and unconventional navigation mechanics. Every interaction was carefully crafted to reinforce the artist’s image, authenticity, and emotional connection with the audience. The project integrated music releases, photography, video content, concert information, and artist communications into a unified digital ecosystem. A significant portion of the work was dedicated to frontend development and the implementation of advanced visual effects, animations, transition systems, glitch effects, horizontal galleries, and immersive content presentation techniques that were rarely seen even among international entertainment projects at the time. The website received international recognition from AWWWARDS, earning both Site of the Day and Dev Award distinctions. Site of the Day is one of the highest recognitions in the digital industry and is awarded only to a small number of projects selected from submissions worldwide. For artist and musician websites, receiving this distinction is particularly uncommon, placing the project among the strongest examples of music-related digital experiences recognized by one of the world’s oldest and most respected web design institutions. The project also received recognition from CSS Design Awards and several international design galleries. Several years later, after the agency evolved into Deep Digital, the artist once again returned to our team. A new generation of the platform was subsequently designed and developed, continuing a long-term collaboration across multiple stages of the artist’s professional growth and public career.

Sponge Digital & Design — AWWWARDS Site of the Day

2015 - Site of the Day

Sponge D&D was an international digital agency specializing in branding, digital products, web platforms, UX strategy, motion design, and custom software development. During its active growth phase, the company delivered hundreds of projects across multiple industries, working with startups, financial institutions, healthcare organizations, media companies, e-commerce businesses, and technology brands. To support the agency’s expansion, our team designed and developed a large-scale corporate platform that combined portfolio presentation, company positioning, service architecture, industry expertise, agency culture, publications, case studies, and internal initiatives within a unified digital ecosystem. The platform was created not simply as a corporate website, but as a living representation of the agency itself. Significant attention was dedicated to information architecture, frontend engineering, content systems, motion design, interactive storytelling, custom animations, and user experience. The project incorporated advanced visual effects, complex transitions, responsive design principles, and scalable content structures capable of supporting long-term growth. The website received international recognition from AWWWARDS and was awarded SOFD, one of the industry’s most respected distinctions. At the time, very few agencies from Eastern Europe and the CIS region had achieved this level of recognition. Sponge D&D became one of the early agencies in the region to consistently receive international awards, helping establish new standards for digital production and influencing designers, developers, marketers, and creative teams during a formative period of the regional digital industry. The project was later featured across multiple international design galleries and professional web industry platforms. Core Areas: Agency Platforms, Portfolio Systems, Motion Design, Frontend Engineering, Interactive Storytelling, Visual Communication, Digital Ecosystems.

13 Awards from 17 Submissions — 2× Site of the Day, 11× Honorable Mention

2017 - Honorable Mention + Site of the Day

During my years as Co-Owner and Creative Director of Sponge Digital & Design, I led the creative direction of every project represented in the agency’s Awwwards history. Only 17 projects were submitted. Thirteen received recognition: 2 Awwwards Site of the Day awards and 11 Honorable Mentions. Behind those numbers was a multidisciplinary approach connecting concept, strategy, narrative, visual language, UX, interaction, motion, and technology. Each project was treated as an individual digital system rather than another variation of an established template. I was responsible for the creative direction across all of these projects — from the initial idea and visual concept to the final experience delivered by the team. The archive captures a concentrated period of international digital work where experimentation was part of production itself: 17 submissions, 13 Awwwards recognitions, one creative direction.
