WSJ: Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders Has a $19,000 Lectern Problem
Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is embroiled in an unusual political scandal that has led an alleged whistleblower to step forward with potentially damaging claims and become the talk of the Natural State. It’s about a $19,000 lectern. The scandal—dubbed “PodiumGate” on social media by those still confused about the difference between a podium and a lectern—centers on her office’s purchase of a seemingly expensive piece of furniture to stand behind while speaking.

Thu Oct 5, 2023, 09:42 AM When Apple chipmaker TSMC was granted federal subsidies for building its first US plant, creating jobs for American workers was one of the key arguments. Ingenious solar distiller makes fresh water from seawater for less than 1 a gallon
Itís pretty easy to get the salt out of seawater. All you have to do is boil it, freeze it, or just wait for rain! But those things take a lot of energy and/or time that many of us donít have to spare. So people have been working on low-cost and low-energy-input ways to do it, such as solar desalination. We seem to have hit on a really good one here, thanks to a collaboration between MIT and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).

Back In The 50"s When I Was In Sunday School
The good nuns were telling me this story about this very nice man called Jesus, who helped a lot of people. So the story goes, they arrested this good man (I wasn't understanding why) The judge held a trial and many people were the jury. They really couldn't even come up with a crime to charge Jesus with so the judge asked the jury what the punishment should be and the jury said death. I'm starting to doubt the good nun's story at this point.

Why doesn't the military help in disasters more quickly?
Response to BlueIn_W_Pa (Original post) Fri Aug 11, 2023, 10:28 AM There's a wall there for a reason. Republicans have been itching to use the military against Americans for decades now. Response to BlueTsunami2018 (Reply #2) Mon Aug 7, 2023, 08:45 AM 6. Lot of professionals have "specialized skills" But don't make anywhere what doctors do. Doctors today - as opposed to 50 years ago - make these huge amounts of money because their organizations control the marketplace through lobbyists and pols who do their bidding. Has nothing to do with specialized skills or whether or not they are having a picnic while training. Reply to this post Back to top Alert abuse Link here Permalink

Response to LiberalArkie (Reply #1) Thu Jul 27, 2023, 01:39 PM 4. But Christianity is based on belief that Jesus was/is a supernatural being. There are all sorts of historical, real world backstories to the Bible, of course, because it is a collection of mythologies that arose out of desert-dwelling Bronze Age peoples, but devout people have “faith” in the magical stuff. The definition of faith is:belief in the absence of evidence. Reply to this post Back to top Alert abuse Link here Permalink

I had a heart bypass a few years later and I wasn't old enough yet for the good drugs.
