In this blogpost, we draw from our current fieldwork on the island of Ærø, a place which has branded itself as “the digital island”[1], to explore how care workers tinker with screens during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to care for the elderly from a distance. A New Way of Seeing Marie is a healthcare worker on the island of Ærø, in the South Funen archipelago, Denmark. She is a dietician and part of her job entails visiting elderly citizens in their homes to see how they are eating.

Original Article First Online: 13 July 2019 Abstract The adoption of the randomised controlled trial within public health research to test behavioural and lifestyle interventions means that trial researchers are increasingly expected to balance ambitions of methodological rigour and social relevance in the performance of a trial. Striking this balance is particularly important when it comes to the issue of participant compliance.
