Persistent gas hazards partitioned from post-thermal runaway lithium-ion battery residue
Abstract Improvements in lithium-ion battery (LIB) safety rely on understanding the thermal runaway failure of the cells. Thermal abuse tests are done on LIBs to study their exothermic reaction kinetics and gaseous hazards. Typically, testing is conducted in either pressure vessels or accelerating rate calorimetry (ARC) systems.
An engineering-reinforced extracellular vesicle-integrated hydrogel with an ROS-responsive release pattern mitigates spinal cord injury
Abstract The local delivery of mesenchymal stem cell–derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) via hydrogel has emerged as an effective approach for spinal cord injury (SCI) treatment. However, achieving on-demand release of EVs from hydrogel to address dynamically changing pathology remains challenging. Here, we used a series of engineering methods to further enhance EVs’ efficacy and optimize their release pattern from hydrogel.
Author Correction: Porous microneedle patch with sustained delivery of extracellular vesicles mitigates severe spinal cord injury - Nature Communications
Correction to: Nature Communications https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-023-39745-2, published online 07 July 2023 The original version of this Article contained an error in the ‘The MN-MSC patch alleviates the inflammatory response in spinal cord lesions after SCI’ section of the Results, which incorrectly read ‘However, only the MN- EV treatment yielded a statistically significant increase in the anti-inflammatory cytokine TGF-β as well as increased arginase-2 and decreased IL-1β expression.’...
Porous microneedle patch with sustained delivery of extracellular vesicles mitigates severe spinal cord injury - Nature Communications
Abstract The transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells-derived secretome, particularly extracellular vesicles is a promising therapy to suppress spinal cord injury-triggered neuroinflammation. However, efficient delivery of extracellular vesicles to the injured spinal cord, with minimal damage, remains a challenge. Here we present a device for the delivery of extracellular vesicles to treat spinal cord injury.
Controlled delivery of a neurotransmitter–agonist conjugate for functional recovery after severe spinal cord injury - Nature Nanotechnology
Abstract Despite considerable unmet medical needs, effective pharmacological treatments that promote functional recovery after spinal cord injury remain limited. Although multiple pathological events are implicated in spinal cord injuries, the development of a microinvasive pharmacological approach that simultaneously targets the different mechanisms involved in spinal cord injury remains a formidable challenge.
