Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a series of metabolic disorder syndromes characterized by hyperglycemia due to decreased islet function or insulin resistance. The global population of individuals with diabetes is projected to rise from 463 million in 2019 to 700 million by 2045.1 T2D can cause multiple organ dysfunction, and cognitive impairment is one of its detrimental complications.
Materials and methods This study spanned January 2016 to May 2019. All participants were aged 40 to 75 years, with right-handedness, and more than six years of education. Patients with diabetes were recruited from the outpatient or inpatient services at the Department of Endocrinology of Drum Tower Hospital. Type 2 diabetes was diagnosed by the American Diabetes Association standards.
