Salecanase, a novel glycosyl hydrolase from Paenibacillus sp. S09
Salecan is a high-molecular, water-soluble β-1,3-glucan secreted by Agrobacterium sp. ZX09. In this study, a Paenibacillus sp. strain S09 with high salecan-degrading capacity was isolated. A salecan hydrolase (salecanase) SalA was purified to apparent homogeneity with 33.2 fold, specific activity of 249 U/mg, and recovery of 15.4% from Paenibacillus sp. S09 culture supernatant.
