Abstract Biomass burning (BB) is an important source of atmospheric carbonaceous aerosols and trace gases, exerting significant impacts on air quality, climate, and human health. However, a nationwide, long-term, and integrated BB emission dataset for China remains limited. Here, we construct a monthly gridded BB inventory for China covering 1980–2024.
Editor’s summary One could be excused for assuming that wildfires in the western US worsen air quality across the rest of the nation only due to smoke transport, but that would be incorrect. Instead, Ma et al. showed that extreme wildfires in the west actually reduce fine particle concentrations in the eastern US by an amount comparable to the increases that they cause in the west (see the Perspective by Qian).
2.2.2. Tapered Fiber (TF) Tapered Fiber (TF) can be fabricated by HF corrosion, fiber fusion splicer tapering, and flame brush tapering. From the transition to the uniform waist region, the TF diameter gradually decreases. A TF with a tiny enough size can be called a Microfiber, attached with strong Evanescent Field energies and a high environmental sensitivity, which is generally fabricated by flame brush equipment [50,51].
