House Majority Leader Rep. Brenden H. Jones. (Robert Willett/rwillett@newsobserver.com) House Majority Leader Brenden Jones is on a mission. His mission is not to help people of North Carolina and finally pass a budget and raise teacher pay. It is not to fund Medicaid or help people find good jobs that pay livable wages. He doesn’t seem to care about lowering the costs of healthcare coverage or housing costs. Jones is on a mission to ban books in schools.
Of the 50 Senators in the North Carolina General Assembly, I have the strange honor of being the only openly LGBTQ legislator in the chamber. Most days when I go to work, this fact is not directly relevant to the issues that come up, and that is a mark of the progress made by generations before me. Some days when I go to work, the continued attacks on the LGBTQ community take center stage.
