Surface d -orbital order in an intermetallic compound
Abstract Orbital order describes a quantum state where occupied orbitals line up in a periodic pattern. Although orbital physics plays a fundamental and universal role in strongly correlated electron systems, the existence and particularly the band-structure fingerprint of orbital order remain a long-standing mystery. Here we report the discovery of rare earth 5d-orbital order developed by the surface states of the intermetallic compound Tb2CoAl4Ge2.

Publisher Correction: Bose–Einstein condensation of a two-magnon bound state in a spin-1 triangular lattice - Nature Materials
Correction to: Nature Materials https://doi.org/10.1038/s41563-024-02071-z, published online 20 January 2025. In the version of the article initially published, the y axis of Fig. 2e read “0, 0.6, 0.6, 0.6, 0.8” but should have read “0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8”. This error has now been corrected in the HTML and PDF versions of the article. About this article Sheng, J., Mei, JW., Wang, L. et al. Bose–Einstein condensation of a two-magnon bound state in a spin-1 triangular lattice - Nature Materials
Abstract In ordered magnets, the elementary excitations are spin waves (magnons), which obey Bose–Einstein statistics. Similarly to Cooper pairs in superconductors, magnons can be paired into bound states under attractive interactions. The Zeeman coupling to a magnetic field is able to tune the particle density through a quantum critical point, beyond which a ‘hidden order’ is predicted to exist.
High-performance non-Fermi-liquid metallic thermoelectric materials - npj Computational Materials
Abstract Searching for high-performance thermoelectric (TE) materials in the paradigm of narrow-bandgap semiconductors is hampered by a bottleneck. Here we report on the discovery of metallic compounds, TiFexCu2x−1Sb and TiFe1.33Sb, showing the thermopower exceeding many TE semiconductors and the dimensionless figure of merits zTs comparable with the state-of-the-art TE materials.
