Interview

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Being an independent, objective, curious truth-seeker who can put into context meaning and impact to the audience in fair and balanced way.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Google docs, Wordpress, Pexels. No AI.

What's your favorite social network?

Substack -- excellent for content discovery, connecting with peers, no advertising for a seamless experience, a built-in multimedia studio.

Who do you wish followed you?

Deepak Chopra and Oprah!

Why did you become a journalist?

I'm curious & love the challenge of communicating something complex in a simple, helpful way (writing, speaking, teaching/coaching).

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes, I wrote news and features, then did the same at my college paper 'til I was Editor-in-Chief.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Making the fragmented, misunderstood holistic health and wellness landscape accessible and actionable.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

When it's not a pitch but a canned story.

What's your favorite drink?

Champagne, mais oui!

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Out walking and/or listening to music. Sometimes both -- dancing down the street.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

The Atlantic and Wired UK.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That mind-body-spirit disciplines have no credibility.
