Introduction Insulin resistance (IR) refers to a pathological condition where the capacity of insulin to facilitate the absorption and utilization of glucose is compromised due to diverse factors. Consequently, the body secretes excessive insulin, leading to hyperinsulinemia (1). Studies indicate that IR is independent of conventional risk factors but is closely linked to cardiovascular disease (2), including coronary artery disease and unfavorable cardiovascular events (3–5).
