Time Blocking | Voters | ClickUp
I plan my tasks in one hour chunks (with some flexibility as far as what hour of the day I'll work on them). It would be nice to have a mix of the Kanban feature and the time estimate feature that allows estimates per assignee. So, for example, instead of setting a time estimate per assignee, the function would be assigning a day for each chunk of a project. And the Kanban-like functionality would allow me to drag and drop the order the order of project chunks throughout the day.
Billy the Kid's Last Stand
In Western frontier history, you might call it the “Great Escape.” After all, Davy Crockett didn’t escape the Alamo, George Custer didn’t escape the Little Bighorn, and Nez Perce Chief Joseph didn’t escape the U.S. Army.
Wild West Book Review: The Man From the Rio Grande
The Man From the Rio Grande: A Biography of Harry Love, Leader of the California Rangers Who Tracked Down Joaquín Murrieta by William B. Secrest, Arthur H. Clark Co., Spokane,Wash., 2005, $34.50.
Wild West Book Review: Fullerton’s Rangers
Fullerton’s Rangers: A History of the New Mexico Territorial Mounted Police by Chuck Hornung, McFarland & Company, Jefferson, N.C., 2005, $45. Although the Wild West had allegedly ended in most places by 1890, the wild days continued in the territories. At the turn of the century, New Mexico Territory was a cultural mosaic (native Indians, Mexicans, Anglos, etc.) deeply divided by political factions and lacking sufficient law and order.
Wild West Review: The Big Valley
The Big Valley originally on TV 1965- 69, DVD 2006 (20th Century Fox), $40, 5 discs, 1,530 minutes. You get the 30- episode first season of a 1960s Western that never delivered the greatness of Gunsmoke, but was better than Bonanza. On the surface at least, The Big Valley had much in common with the latter. Bonanza featured an all-adult family (the Cartwrights) with too much money and land (the Ponderosa ranch seemed to be at least the size of Rhode Island) on their hands.
Wild West Book Review: Lynch Ropes & Long Shots
Lynch Ropes & Long Shots: The Story of an Old West Train Robbery by Bob Alexander, High-Lonesome Books, Silver City, N.M., 2006, $25. Readers are always in for a gritty treat when former lawman Bob Alexander tackles a frontier subject, because the prolific author does his research and tells his stories well. And this particular story is one for the books…and for the movies.
Wild West Review: Cheyenne
This series debuted on September 20, 1955, 10 days after the debut of Gunsmoke, and it wasn’t long before imaginative kids around the nation began wondering who would be the victor in a fistfight between CBS’ tall and mighty Marshal Matt Dillon (James Arness) and ABC’s broad-shouldered Cheyenne Bodie (Clint Walker). The dream match-up never occurred (hey, but it’s still possible, Arness and Walker are actually both still alive!).
A Few Good Points About the Golden Spike
Inexhaustibly, the Union Pacific built westward and the Central Pacific built eastward until their rails joined to form the first transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869, with the driving of a golden spike at Promontory Point, Utah. Countless books, magazines and history teachers have said so. Well, that was indeed the date of the great American railroad linkup, but they are wrong on several points.
Wild West Review: Rawhide
Although the show is remembered today primarily for having introduced Clint Eastwood to the Western world, Rawhide had a lot more going for it than the future box office champion. Not the least of its assets was the unforgettable theme song, “Rawhide,” sung by the late Frankie Laine. As these first 23 hour-long black-and-white episodes clearly demonstrate, Rawhide was no more about steers than Wagon Train was about wagons.
