In Praise of Books
by Rebecca M. Alvin There’s nothing like curling up under the blankets with a good book on a chilly afternoon. While the summer beach read has its place, as the beautiful New England foliage turns brown and the leaves fall to the ground in preparation for their tree’s winter slumber, we spend more time at home, perhaps much of it alone, and the company of a novel or a compelling work of nonfiction can be tremendously comforting.

All six of Edward Hopper’s early oils, long thought to be original works, revealed to be copies

Edward Hopper’s New England epiphany explored in Cape Ann Museum show
It may surprise some that it took over 40 years for Edward Hopper (1882-1967) to sell more than one painting. Throughout the early 1900s he experienced constant frustration and uncertainty, wandering between Europe, New York and New England in an attempt to cultivate a distinct voice.
The Big Review: Edward Hopper’s New York ★★★★☆
For all that’s been said about the American painter Edward Hopper (1882-1967), the artist still remains something of an enigma. Perhaps it is the strangeness of his paintings, which often focus on quiet, ephemeral moments where little is happening and yet some kind of revelation seems imminent. Perhaps it is the inscrutability of the man himself, whose few statements revealed little of his inner life.
Radiohead's Misunderstood Masterpiece
The backlash started early. Many fans thought that the album's comparatively small offering of only eight tracks meant that this was only the first half of a larger project.
