We want to make LD11 residents aware of some of the resources available for testing and treatment as well as some of our legislative initiatives to fight the disease. Insurance companies rarely covered fertility preservation for at-risk cancer patients, even though the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Society of Clinical Oncology began recognizing it as a standard component of care in 2005.

A Unified Approach to Flooding: By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul
Assemblywomen Luanne Peterpaul and Margie Donlon The wild weather this summer reignited concerns about how we address flooding from streams, rivers, lakes, and the stormwater runoff that shut down roads and disrupted daily life in Monmouth County for days. Street flooding has intensified as development continues to reduce the green spaces we count on to absorb the torrential rains that have become more frequent.

Striving for Affordability, By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul
Assemblywomen Luanne Peterpaul and Margie Donlon When we talk with constituents about affordability in New Jersey, housing and rental prices often take center stage. As we work to address our state’s affordable housing crisis, it’s important that we do all that we can to reduce the prices of rental properties. So, it’s gratifying that our sponsored legislation to prevent rent-setting software from pricing New Jerseyans out of their homes was signed into law last week.

By Walter J. O’Neill, Jr. Taking a fadeaway jumper for ACI/Robin’s Nest is Jagan Mosely (1) who scored 12 points in the 93-87 win over Larson Ford. This week the Jersey Shore Basketball League kicked off their 58th season of summer hoops. Of the eight teams in the league, only one has been there since the start, and that is Larson Ford. In fact, Larson Ford has appeared in 27 JSBL championship games with a record 10 wins.

Assemblywomen Luanne Peterpaul and Margie Donlon The State Assembly advanced several of our bills last week, including legislation to enhance protections for reproductive healthcare services and an initiative to give the state Department of Health access to information on global disease outbreaks. The Assembly also passed our legislation requiring providers of substance or alcohol use disorder treatment be assessed for conflicts of interest, along with several other bills.
Donlon and Peterpaul on Beach Fee Transparency and Medicaid Eligibility
By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul Assemblywomen Luanne Peterpaul and Margie Donlon With Memorial Day upon us, we wanted to update you on our efforts to make the way towns collect and spend beach revenues more transparent. The cost of beach badges continues to go up, which isn’t unexpected as costs in general, especially the cost of recruiting and retaining lifeguards, have gone up. But some towns charge substantially more than others even though their levels of service are about the same.
Child Abuse Prevention Month
By Dr. Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul Assemblywomen Luanne Peterpaul and Margie Donlon With our collective experiences as a physician, and a former municipal judge, assistant county prosecutor and co-author of New Jersey’s Anti-Bullying law, we have seen firsthand the horrible effects of child abuse, bullying and manipulation. Many children carry the emotional and psychological scars into adulthood. The scale of child maltreatment in the United States remains staggering.

How to Apply for Property Tax Relief
By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul Residents may now file a single Property Tax Relief Application for all three property tax relief programs, ANCHOR, Senior Freeze, and Stay NJ. Stay NJ is a new program, sponsored and championed by our office alongside Senator Gopal, that goes into effect and will pay benefits in 2026, based on the 2024 tax year.
Requiring Coverage for IVF
By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul We are strong advocates for women’s access to in vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is a life-changing medical procedure that has enabled thousands of New Jersey couples to start families. That’s especially true for women who undergo medical treatments that can cause infertility. Women facing cancer and other medical conditions should not have to go into their treatment also worrying whether what heals them will prevent them from having children.
Protecting Women’s Reproductive Health Care

Changes to ANCHOR Property Tax Relief
By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul The state Department of Treasury is making changes in how and when homeowners and renters apply for this year’s ANCHOR property tax relief benefit, which is based on the 2021 tax year. ANCHOR replaced the old Homestead Rebate program several years ago and expanded the property tax relief to renters. We want to make sure residents understand the changes and are aware of the earlier filing deadlines for this year’s programs.
Supporting Nonprofits as Food Insecurity Remains Too High
By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul More people in New Jersey, and in Monmouth County, face food insecurity today than during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today’s level of food insecurity is different than during the pandemic, when record levels of people were out of work and supply chain problems resulted in diminished food supply and higher prices. Unemployment has almost returned to pre-pandemic levels. The supply chain problems have largely been fixed.
Protecting Access to Reproductive Healthcare
By Dr. Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul The last fifty years have marked significant social progress and strides. But when it comes to reproductive health, we fear that, as a country, we are moving backwards. New Jersey has historically provided stronger protections for reproductive rights and autonomy than the federal government and many other states, and we need to ensure that our state continues to stand up for these rights. Healthcare is one of our top priorities as state legislators.
Every Child Needs a Healthy Lunch
By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul In New Jersey, 812,440 people are facing hunger – and 197,280 of them are children. That’s one in every 10 children in our state, according to Feeding America. Hunger can affect people from all walks of life. Millions of people in America are just one job loss, missed paycheck, or medical emergency away from hunger. But hunger doesn’t affect everyone equally – some groups like children and seniors, face hunger at much higher rates.

By Assemblywomen Dr. Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul When Governor Murphy delivered the state budget proposal for 2025 to the State Legislature last week, we were pleased to see that key elements of the state budget aligned with our priorities in the State Assembly. Specifically, as members of the Health Committee and the Tourism, Gaming & the Arts Committee (Asw. Donlon) and the Commerce, Economic Development & Agriculture Committee and the Aging and Human Services Committee (Asw.
Expanding Access to Healthcare Services
By Dr. Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul We’re working on several pieces of legislation to increase access to healthcare for two of our vulnerable populations: people with mental health disabilities and students. This week we introduced a bill to allow accredited clubhouses to receive Medicaid reimbursement for mental health rehabilitation services. The “clubhouse program” is a non-residential community-based psychosocial rehabilitation program accredited by Clubhouse International.
Supporting Efforts to Curb Robocalls
By Vin Gopal In a bi-partisan initiative, LD11 Assemblywomen Dr. Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul and I joined Congressman Frank Pallone and local government officials from our district at a press conference last week to support his legislation, the “Do Not Disturb Act,” to curb the robocalls by closing loopholes in federal robocall laws. Robocallers are scamming millions of Americans every single day.

Working for Families, Seniors and Businesses in LD11
By Margie Donlon and Luanne Peterpaul As we look forward to our swearing in to represent Legislative District 11 residents in the State Assembly, we wanted to share some of our priorities and goals. We also want to thank everyone who came out to vote in November. Our Assembly district is a diverse place. But we have many things in common: the desire to live an affordable life, in the places we have chosen to make our homes, and where our families are safe and we treat each other respectfully.

We need to join together as a community to help our neighbors and future generations before it is too late.
