Lucas Ackerson’s Biography
Lucas Ackerson is an organizational leader and consultant with 13 years of experience focused on guiding and motivating others to become effective leaders. A former college track athlete, he developed key personal and professional traits: discipline, resilience, and perseverance, qualities that have supported his growth throughout his life and career.
He views adversity as an opportunity to build strength, character, and direction. He believes in staying steady in the face of uncertainty and supports others in doing the same. His areas of expertise include organizational leadership, time management, and client relations.
Professional Career
Assistant Principal-Athletic Director
Lucas held a leadership role at Scottsdale Unified School as Assistant Principal-Athletic Director. In this position, he managed strategic projects with a focus on execution quality, planning, resource management, and oversight. He played a key role in completing milestones on time and with high standards.
Luke's responsibilities included improving performance reviews and supporting assessments that led to better operational practices. He communicated effectively with executives, principals, and stakeholders, and served as a consultant to teacher leaders and teams. His coaching helped build team confidence and improve performance during key initiatives.
In addition to administrative duties, he enhanced the school’s athletic programs by implementing consistent procedures and reinforcing governance practices. These efforts contributed to stronger program management. One notable achievement was negotiating a new Nike Elite Contract and Sports deal for the school.
Work at Cave Creek School District
Lucas later joined the Educational Services K-12 department of the Cave Creek School District in Arizona. There, he supported students, teachers, school leaders, and the community in efforts to promote academic excellence. His role involved teacher training, and he served in several capacities: behavioral coach, instructional coach, curriculum coach, and PLC coordinator.
Teacher, Instructional Leader at Echo Canyon School
Before Cave Creek, he was a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher and instructional leader at Echo Canyon School in Scottsdale. During this time, he helped ensure consistent pacing across online and in-person learning environments while adhering to state guidelines. He used the Check-in and Check-out (CICO) program to identify behavioral concerns among kindergarten students. He also built a safe classroom environment that encouraged critical thinking and student independence.
Roles and Achievements at La Crosse Area Schools
Lucas spent six years teaching second through fourth grades in the La Crosse Area Schools in Wisconsin. He used a data-driven approach and the I-Ready platform to enhance instruction. He also created and maintained a student information database to support classroom improvements.
Luke served as a Fast Bridge trainer for district data initiatives, applied Kagan strategies to increase engagement, and was a PBIS Tier 1 coach. As part of his work in behavior support, he developed a PBIS Expectations Video to foster a positive, safe school environment.
In addition to teaching, he served as a Teacher Instructional Leader and worked on behavior and instructional strategies. He also implemented Responsive Classroom practices to promote a productive classroom setting.
Luke Ackerson contributed to school climate efforts by producing a video focused on building community and fostering a sense of belonging.
As the Science Curriculum Director, he taught Universal Design for Learning (UDL) lessons and was trained in the Full Option Science System (FOSS), encouraging students to explore and think scientifically.
Lucas was awarded a $500 grant from the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation to support classroom science materials and also developed STEM-aligned lessons for the curriculum.
Restaurant Supervisor
Outside of education, he worked as a Restaurant Supervisor at Scottsdale Crust Restaurant Group. In this role, he converted data into valuable insights to support strategy and performance improvements. He applied value-based selling techniques to improve customer engagement and exceed revenue goals.
He managed and evaluated staff performance, handled financial oversight, and participated in investor discussions. He also collaborated with leadership on strategic business issues.
Education
Lucas Ackerson earned a Bachelor of Science in Middle Childhood and Early Adolescents Education with a minor in Social Studies from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, where he also participated as a collegiate athlete and coach.
Lucas holds a Master’s degree in Administration Leadership from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and completed a PhD in Organizational Leadership – K12 Education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. His doctoral research explored the connection between resilience and academic achievement.
Personal Life
He values family and faith and regularly volunteers in his community. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, golfing, and staying active through exercise.
