Lucky Oluoch

Lucky Oluoch holds a BA in Communications, majoring in Public Relations, from St Paul’s University.

He is an experienced storyteller with about 5 years of journalism experience, having worked in busy newsrooms and served in both junior and senior editorial roles.

At the moment, Lucky supports the planning and execution of integrated PR, communications and stakeholder engagement strategies at Oxygène Marketing and Communications Ltd.

During his time in the newsroom, Lucky secured high-profile interviews with influential figures such as the African Union (AU) Youth Envoy, Ambassador Chido Mpemba, and the then AU Youth Envoy advisor and former CNN journalist and producer, Idris Muktar.

In 2022, Lucky also secured an exclusive interview with the Ecobana Limited team (a group of five students), beating other media outlets after they won Ksh120 million at the Hult Global Prize in New York for their innovation: eco-friendly sanitary pads made from banana fibres.

Lucky is a 2025/26 DW Akademie Fellow in the AI in the Newsroom programme. Executed in partnership with Africa Uncensored, his fellowship research explored how Artificial Intelligence, data analysis and vibe coding can help detect narrative patterns and Coordinated Inauthentic Behaviour (CIB) before, during and after election periods, and elevate modern public-interest storytelling.

Outside of work, Lucky loves art and strongly supports and enjoys Kenyan creative content.
