What was your first job as a journalist?
First paid job was local newspaper reporter (and What's On editor!) at the Tameside Reporter in Greater Manchester
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I think I briefly owned one at university
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
The only one springing to mind right now is Trent Crimm in Ted Lasso
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Ideally, it means getting to do what you love for a living, and writing about subjects you are passionate about.

Why did you become a journalist?
I was obsessed with Smash HIts, and decided at Primary School that I wanted to become a journalist and write about pop stars
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
At school, I wrote for a national children's newspaper called Early Times - I used it as an opportunity to interview my favourite bands
What's your favorite drink?
Margarita
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Running trails, cold water swimming, or hunting out restaurants and cocktail bars
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The Guardian
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That travel writers flit around the world staying in fancy hotels and barely doing any work!
