SCRATCH: A programmable, open-hardware, benchtop robot that automatically scratches cultured tissues to investigate cell migration, healing, and tissue sculpting.
Abstract Despite the widespread popularity of the "scratch assay", where a pipette is dragged through cultured tissue to create an injury gap to study cell migration and healing, the manual nature of the assay carries significant drawbacks. So much of the process depends on individual manual technique, which can complicate quantification, reduce throughput, and limit the versatility and reproducibility of the approach.
Incorporating Children’s Literature into Mathematics Instruction
By Madeline Bailey / Texas A&M University In the world of present day education, incorporating reading and writing into classrooms of every grade level and discipline has become the norm, often to the chagrin of upper level STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) teachers who do not see these concepts as particularly relevant to their subject.
Supporting Innovation In Insurtech
It was fantastic to be talking about Norton Rose Fulbright's annual Insurathon pitch competition last night, at a sell-out Instech event. Also, very apt that the event was looking at ESG reporting in the insurance sector. There are range of providers now looking to support the industry's response to climate change, with many climate-tech, prop-tech startups, scale ups and data providers now also crossing over into the Insurtech space, with new and innovative solutions.
Foundations For Good AI Governance (Video)
Organisations are increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) to capitalise on the potential of its transformative power. From virtual assistants, to systems that make recommendations for hiring, to automating decisions for credit, to behavioural analysis to better serve a customer segment (to name only a few), AI is being integrated across the value chain in all business domains.
Setting Foundations For Good AI Governance
We are delighted to be supporting Norton Rose Fulbright's Annual Data Conference with some practical steps that all organisations can take now to manage and mitigate AI risk. From virtual assistants, to systems that make recommendations for hiring, to automating decisions for credit, to behavioural analysis to better serve a customer segment (to name only a few), AI is being integrated across the value chain in all business domains.

In advance of the 2022 World Cup, the use of biometric data in mass sports events has emerged as one of the key talking points. This article is interesting because it illustrates the challenges with using biometric data alongside other technologies such as artificial intelligence, across many domains, including sporting events. What are biometric technologies?
The legal pitfalls of using AI at work
Businesses are increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) to speed up decision-making and other HR processes, such as recruitment, work allocation, management decisions and dismissals. The types of decision-making AI is performing in the workplace include: Profiling: using algorithms to categorise data and find correlations between data sets.
Creating an inclusive culture powered by technology
Diversity and inclusion is a key priority for all global businesses. Forward-thinking companies are actively hiring for cognitive diversity and embedding data driven strategies to turbo charge their D&I agenda. Disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are opening up new ways to derive novel insights and augment decision making for more diverse and inclusive workplaces. The digital age is no longer a 'thing'. It just is.
