Edit Desk: Our great expectations
At least once a year, I make a phone call with trembling lips and rocky fingers. At least once a year, I choke on words that aren’t there. At least once a year, I see “It’s OK not to be OK,” scribbled all over Instagram stories and Facebook walls. And at least once a year, I hear the words that my friend or someone’s brother, daughter, father, cousin, committed suicide.

Super Bowl predictions from BW sports editors
Sports Editor, Maddy Hite: Rams Though one may say that the New England Patriots (11-5) are the underdogs when comparing them to the Rams (13-3), the Patriots are a lower seed and objectively have had lower performance expectations throughout the playoff and regular seasons. However, now in Super Bowl LIII, this is not the case. Tom Brady has more Super Bowl appearances than any other team in The NFL. And the Patriots have made nine of the last 18 super bowls.

Edit desk: Carpe diem
My dad smiled as he gripped my small baby blue backpack just before I bounced out of the car and waddled into my middle school. “Hey. What do you say?” I groaned and turned. I had to look him in the eye. “Carpe Diem,” I said. “No fear, no meanness, no envy. Carpe Diem.” I kissed him on the cheek and ran after my friends. I always thought those words would make me late, but they have changed my life. Seizing the day is something we hear a lot.

I prepare for class discussion. I walk into the classroom. I take out my notebook. Before the start of the class, I read over “my opinions.” These opinions I know a lot of my classmates will agree with. Throughout my time in high school, I loved to debate. Whether it was during a class with my teacher or with one of my friends — if I was passionate about something and someone else was too, we would engage. It wasn’t because I loved to argue with other people. It was simply because I loved to learn.

Edit desk: Switch the age, turn the page - The Brown and White

Before every night out, underage party-goers drink as much alcohol as possible, and then head out for the night’s festivities. Drinking under the age of 21 is illegal, making it “necessary” for teens to drink as much as possible under the privacy of their own rooves for fear of a public citation.
