It is good to be in a room with people who are smarter, more experienced and have been in the business longer than you. When I am learning, I am growing. Samoa is resilient and there is no shortage of the entrepreneurial spirit.

Before jetting off on a whirlwind trip to Brussels, Stockholm, and the NATO Summit in Vilnius last Friday, New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins gave a speech setting out his vision of the country’s foreign policy. The Pacific Engagement Visa needs to be delivered
Labor’s announcement that it would introduce a Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) to provide Pacific Island citizens with 3,000 permanent resident visas annually has been warmly welcomed in the region. Good progress was made with the new visa, with crucial details released at the start of the year, but it is now clear that the target starting date of 1 July has been missed.
Geopolitical duel in the Pacific: Solomon Islands security at risk as Australia and China compete
Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles landed in Honiara, the capital of Solomon Islands, last week for talks on the future of Australia’s defence and policing presence in the country. The day before Marles arrived in Honiara he suggested that the Australian-led Solomon Islands International Assistance Force (SIAF) could remain in Solomon Islands beyond the mission’s expiration date of December this year. This was a miscalculation.

Sadness during Easter
Sadness like all our emotions, is healthy and meant to help us better respond to ourselves, others, and the world around us. It’s ok to feel sad. This week, I’ve gone through many emotions and those who are going through a separation or divorce would be very familiar with the roller coaster sentiments. Culture, constitution and controversy in Samoa
Fifty-eight years after Samoa became an independent state, it has been promised a new court giving Samoan customs a rightful place in law. It is worth considering why has this has been declared necessary Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi has told the nation that Samoan customs will be strengthened in law when parliament passes three interconnected bills into law: the Land and Titles Bill 2020, the Constitution Amendment Bill 2020 and Judicature Bill 2020.

by Reverend Latuivai Kioa Faiga’a Latu Can politics and Christianity be separated? What place does the voice of Christian leaders have in Samoan Society? Recent parliamentary actions are raising questions about whether the concerns of Christian churches and their leaders are being taken seriously in the processes and decisions of our parliament.
Another view: Women in Parliament
The 10 per cent representation into political participation of women – what about equality for all? The Constitutional amendment to allow for women - 5 in numbers - to be at least their minimum members in Parliament for none other but to make their presence felt and their voice heard vis–a-viz their representation amongst men Parliamentarians, raises more questions and arguably point to the underpinning complex of Samoan society than the amendment was intended to address.
