How is social media changing news?

Social media is giving a platform to voices that previously would have went unheard. This is both a good and bad thing.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I prefer to receive an email with a pitch that grabs my attention and is associated with my preferred writing topics.

Canva, Google Docs, Ottr, Trello, Dropmark, Mailchimp

Why did you become a journalist?

To tell the stories that other people overlook.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No but I did get to record a poem I wrote in class for the local PBS station.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The cover story I did on artist Adrienne Domnick for Dime Entertainment Magazine.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Never box yourself in, always accept the challenge of writing outside of your comfort zone.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Any time, I check my email regularly.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

The best pitch was to write about the artist Dear Silas.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Spending time with my family or watching the myriad of content on YouTube.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I read a wide variety of other online publications for insight on different types of content.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I usually like to stay in the realm of indie creatives, musicians, and small business owners.
