Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, I’ve used a typewriter before! It was a while back, but there’s something nostalgic and grounding about the process. Unlike modern technology, it forces you to be deliberate with your words since there’s no backspace or delete button. I think it helped me appreciate the value of precision in communication, which is important in both law and entrepreneurship. While I wouldn’t trade today’s conveniences for it, I do appreciate the charm and discipline that comes with using a typewriter.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I prefer to be pitched on stories through a concise, well-thought-out email. Clear communication is key, so I appreciate when the pitch gets straight to the point, outlines the main idea, and highlights why it’s relevant to my work in both entrepreneurship and law. I’m drawn to stories that have a fresh perspective or offer valuable insights, especially if they align with current trends or challenges I’m focused on. Personalization is important too—showing an understanding of my areas of interest makes the pitch stand out.

What's your favorite social network?

My favorite social network is LinkedIn. It's a powerful platform for connecting with like-minded professionals and growing my entrepreneurial and legal networks. I love that it's designed for meaningful conversations, whether it's discussing industry trends, finding potential partners, or staying updated on legal developments. Plus, it’s a great place to showcase thought leadership and build credibility in both of my fields.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

The most common misperception about my work is that entrepreneurship and law operate in completely separate silos. In reality, they are deeply interconnected. As an entrepreneur, understanding legal frameworks is crucial for everything from structuring a business to protecting intellectual property, navigating contracts, and managing risk. Many people think law is just about courtrooms and regulations, but in the entrepreneurial space, it’s a strategic tool for growth and innovation. Balancing both worlds allows me to see the bigger picture and make informed, proactive decisions.
