Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I was doing freelancing for a popular news site.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No. But mechanical keyboards do give me that feel (I think)

How is social media changing news?

Social media allows news to spread faster and reach more people than ever. In my opinion this beakneck speed of news propagation is something that has completely changed the news industry. It also brings an extra element of engagement, as now news is not just a one way street.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Undoubtedly Gregory Mcdonald. His tales of Fletch has always made me laugh and dream at the same time.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To present an information that is authentic, without any hyperbole. Truth is most important in news.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

I think

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Straightforward news, that is not a sales pitch.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Microsoft word definitely. Google for my research.

What's your favorite social network?

LinkedIn.com

Who do you wish followed you?

Elon Musk :)

Why did you become a journalist?

My dream is to give voice to the voiceless. In whatever way I could make it happen, I am willing to do that.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes I did. I was a contributor.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I covered a news about " Kast Media’s Acquisition by LiveOne." I am glad to support Talent and Managers who were affected by this deal.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

To be authentic and truthful. Sometimes you might not like a news, but if it's true do not hesitate to present it as it is.

When's the best time to pitch you?

From 5 PM to 11 PM, so that I could do my research during the night.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

I think the pitch by Taskade for their new AI feature. It was the best.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

There was this pitch for a crypto coin. It was apparent that its a rull-pull effort.

What's your favorite drink?

Diet Coke.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Mobile :)

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Wall Street Journal

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

In my opinion the biggest misperception is that a news related to a sector say technology must talk in the context of that particular sector only. Today when different sectors are overlapping (like Fintech), while approaching a news one must always think from the multidisciplinary angle.
