Marcel Gemme’s Biography
Marcel Gemme is a seasoned freelance journalist, Licensed Drug & Alcohol Treatment Specialist (DATS), and the Founder and CEO of Drug Rehab Services (DRS), which operates leading recovery and education hubs Addicted.org and Drugrehab.ca. With over two decades of dedicated experience in the addiction recovery space—beginning as a hands-on intake counselor in 2000—Marcel blends his clinical background with first-hand lived experience to provide empathetic, evidence-based journalism.
A passionate advocate for early intervention, Marcel is heavily involved with the SUPE (Substance Use Prevention Education) program through Addicted.org, providing families, educators, and communities with critical resources to prevent drug use before it starts. He is a member of NAADAC and the International Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals (ISSUP). His writing focuses on the intersection of substance use, addiction recovery, the fentanyl and prescription drug epidemics, senior care, and how emerging technologies impact mental health. Beyond his journalism, Marcel is an avid musician, composer, and tennis enthusiast.
