4 DISCUSSION The objective of the present meta-analysis was to analyze the anatomical variations of the AVNA, namely in origin, branching pattern, and morphometric properties. Previous data has been collected mainly via cadaver dissections and CT angiography. The demonstrated variation in branching patterns of the AVNA furthermore explained its variations of arterial supply to surrounding structures.
