What was your first job as a journalist?

I worked as a one-man sports department as the Sports Editor for the Valley Courier in Alamosa, Colo.

How is social media changing news?

This is a very broad question that requires more thought and insight than the character allotment here.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

E-mail. I prefer relevant pitches that demonstrate familiarity with my work and what I cover.

What's your favorite social network?

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No. Although I wrote a high school paper that involved interviewing Ron Zappolo, a prominent Denver media figure who encouraged me.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime (because I prefer e-mail and check it regularly).
