Letters: Former Representative backs re-election of Stacie Anderson for City Council
This November, Ward 5 has the opportunity to re-elect Stacie Anderson to represent us on City Council. She has my full support. In my opinion, Stacie has done an excellent job representing us. My husband and I have lived in the same house in the South Hills for close to 50 years, and Stacie is one of the best City Councilors we have ever had. I served in the Montana legislature for 4 years, and understand how much work goes into being an effective representative. Stacie does the work.

Having Her Cake and Eating It Too | NewBostonPost
By Marilyn Ryan | February 24, 2020, 10:11 EST Printed from: https://newbostonpost.com/2020/02/24/having-her-cake-and-eating-it-too/ Who would have guessed a tiny pill could bring down a civilization? No screaming Vikings rowing ashore taking over villages. No barbarians with swords and knives galloping through medieval gates. No. A tiny pill destroyed a culture of family. Some still agree the family was the foundation of western, but also eastern, civilization.
Strong case for maintaining Medicaid expansion
Montana legislators have fewer than 40 legislative days to decide whether we build on our unique, Montana-made Medicaid expansion program, or enact harmful changes that undermine the mission of Medicaid and undo gains in health, employment and the economy. Medicaid expansion represents the best of what the Montana legislature has accomplished. Working together in 2015, legislators reached a bipartisan compromise and passed Medicaid expansion.

Democratic legislators listening to Missoulians
Whether your family has lived in Big Sky Country for decades or you're a first-generation Montanan, all of us are united by the promise of our Montana values: hard work, rugged independence and a commitment to join together and lift each other up in the face of adversity. When we see a neighbor struggling to dig out their car after a winter like the one we just had, Montanans don’t tum away and pretend not to notice. We grab a shovel and go help them out. And we don’t stop until the work is done.
Urgent need to reauthorize CHIP
Sometime in late January, 24,000 Montana children will lose health insurance if the U.S Senate does not vote to reauthorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).By mid-December, the Montana Department of Health and Human Services will be forced to send a warning letter to participating CHIP families with the information their child/children will lose the Montana version of CHIP, Healthy Montana Kids insurance coverage, unless the Senate votes to reauthorize the program before the...
What Happens When We Forget To Tell the Truth About Sex, or: Say It Ain't So, Matt Lauer, Say It Ain't So
A classic New Yorker cartoon many years ago captured some wisdom that has been lost in the Age of Weinstein. A dressed up, curvaceous young woman is walking on a street toward a middle-aged husband and wife. The thought balloon over the wife’s head is of the young woman’s hat and dress alone. The husband’s thought balloon shows the young woman’s body sans clothes.
Community Voices: Elect Stacie Anderson to Ward 5 council seat ~ Missoula Current
As a retired teacher and current Montana state legislator, I appreciate a candidate who does her homework. Over the past several months, I have watched Stacie work hard to educate herself on the issues facing Missoulians and how decisions made by the Missoula City Council will affect the lives of those who call Missoula home. She is bright, dedicated, and will work hard to find solutions to many of the tough issues facing our community.
Conservatives: What They Are and What They Aren't
We all live in a moment in history where it is all-politics-all-the-time. Everything from our health to our wealth, from the womb to the tomb, is viewed through the lens of our increasingly divisive politics. The resulting distortions are many. The most serious is language, the very tool we use to make sense to one another. The meaning of the word “conservative” has been a major victim.
Latin: No Longer a Joke * - NewBostonPost
By Kevin and Marilyn Ryan | June 21, 2017, 16:44 EDT Printed from: https://newbostonpost.com/2017/06/21/latin-no-longer-a-joke/ Julius Caesar strolls into a Boston bar, gives the bartender a hard look and says, “Give me a martinus, straight up, three olives.” The bartender is confused and says, “Sir, are you sure it’s not a martini that you want?” Caesar looks him dead in the eye and growls, “I want a martinus.
