Marissa Plescia’s Biography

I'm a dedicated journalist with experience covering breaking news, politics and human interest pieces. I'm especially passionate about feature reporting because I'm able to develop a deeper connection with my sources and be more creative in my writing.

My interest in journalism first started in high school when I joined my school newspaper, where I eventually became Editor-in-chief my senior year. I am now in my last semester at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I'm majoring in journalism and worked as both a staff writer and an assistant editor for the features section of The Daily Illini. I've also held several reporting internships in the Chicago suburbs, most recently with Chicago Tribune Media Group. I now work as a freelancer for Chicago Tribune Media Group, as well as a teaching assistant for the introduction to journalism course at my university.
