Mark Buck: Why attrition figures and explanations don’t always match
Ask advisers why clients leave and most will tell you it comes down to service. In Vanguard’s 2025 survey of UK advisers, two thirds ranked personality or service among the likeliest reasons a client walks away, and a quarter named an adviser neglecting the relationship. Only a fifth pointed to investment performance. Now read a leavers register. Clients go because their daughter has an adviser, because they moved, because markets fell, because someone was cheaper.
Onderwijs is veel meer dan het meetbare

Please Vaccinate To the editor: I implore my neighbors to get a Covid-19 vaccination as soon as one becomes available. The reasons given to abstain range from “The pandemic is fake news” to “People my age don’t get sick from this virus” to “I don’t trust how fast the vaccine came out.” To the first objection: 400,000 people in the U.S. have died in one year from this “fake news” — about the same number of Americans who died in six years of World War II.
deutsch, ludwig the scholars ||| genre scene ||| sotheby's n08894lot6g9b5en
Despite the startling clarity of his paintings, and his position at the center of an entire school of Austrian Orientalist painting, the details of Ludwig Deutsch’s life remain elusive and vague. He entered the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna in 1872, and settled in Paris in 1878. After studying with the history painter Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921), Deutsch developed a taste for the theatrical and the dramatic, and mastered an intensely realistic style.
