Mark Coatney is a digital media consultant with more than 20 years experience in online media. You can find him here, on LinkedIn, or at markcoatney@gmail.com. Previously he was Senior Vice President for Digital at Al Jazeera America, where he launched and oversaw Al Jazeera’s Web and mobile products. Before that, he was one of the first employees at Tumblr, where he spent 3 years running media partnerships pre-Yahoo. Still further back into history he was a senior editor at Newsweek, with primary responsibility for social media and the creator of the Newsweek Tumblr, as well as handling Twitter, Facebook and other audience engagement platforms for the magazine.
