Abstract Tumors presumed to be metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) may occasionally represent misdiagnoses of primary or metastatic tumors from other origins—particularly lung—due to overlapping clinical characteristics and lack of organ-specific morphological features. While immunohistochemical markers can resolve these discrepancies, they are often underutilized without prior clinical suspicion, leading to significant treatment delays.

This study describes clinical and molecular features of prostate cancer with hotspot mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) or isocitrate dehydrogenase 2 (IDH2). We found that IDH1 mutations can occur within tumors with high tumor stage and grade and yet paradoxically were independently predictive of longer progression-free, metastasis-free, and overall survival.
