How to best enter Israel amid Iranian missile attacks
ByMARK FELDMAN JUNE 15, 2025 17:40 As of the present time, nobody knows when Ben Gurion airport will reopen. It could be later this week or could be next week. El Al has already announced that they will not resume flights before next Monday, June 23rd to Berlin, Barcelona, and twenty two more cities. In absolute terms, El Al has informed clients who had flown or planned to fly to and from twenty four locations to not expect any flights until then.
We need to remember which airlines abandoned Israel, even if it comes at a cost - opinion
Now, the options to soar are limited, and while flying abroad can have a euphoric effect, keep in mind it will cost you to achieve this inner peace. By nature, I am a glass-half-full kind of person rather than a glass-half-empty type. Living and working in Israel’s longest war with airlines and tourists avoiding us like the plague, it often feels like we are living in a dystopian world. We seem to take one step forward, quickly followed by two steps backward.
Israel’s aviation market reopens slowly, cautiously, and at a cost
In JM Barrie’s immortal book, Peter Pan, the title character quips, “The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.” We have been at war for 19 months. At times, it feels like we are in Neverland, with our government playing the role of the Lost Boys, incapable or unwilling to grow up. Incoming tourism to Israel has plummeted to record lows, and while many foreign carriers have returned, several have simply written us off the map.
These books can boost your specialty knowledge on rotation
For medical students looking to broaden their understanding of various physician specialties as they make a choice about which specialty to pursue, having access to high-quality academic resources is essential.
Threat of an Iranian attack leaves El Al without any competition
Not surprisingly, El Al has built a winning business, with a $147 million net profit in the second quarter of this year and a 92% occupancy rate. These calculations were made prior to the assassination of Hamas arch terrorist Ismail Haniyeh in a Tehran hotel room, causing the Iranians to accuse the Israelis of killing a foreigner in their capital, and raising their saber rattling to new heights.
Africa: Academics Condemn Attacks On Sierra Leone's Endangered Historian and Journalist
About 100 academics have signed a letter of support denouncing death threats and harassment orchestrated against Africanist Press editor and Northwestern University-trained historian, Dr. Chernoh Alpha M. Bah.
Academics Condemn Attacks on Sierra Leone’s Endangered Historian and Journalist
The academics say the attacks on Dr. Bah “constitute a clear assault on journalistic freedom [and] go to the heart of principles of academic freedom.” The signatories include historians, anthropologists, archaeologists, sociologists, political scientists, economists and religious studies scholars from various universities in Brazil, the United States, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Portugal, and Nigeria.

How Israel's travel will be affected by the war as summer approaches
The phrase “Now is the winter of our discontent” is spoken by Richard in Shakespeare Richard III. The 2024 summer of discontent will be known by three things never to be believed – the true, the probable, and the logical. In his soliloquy Richard opines: Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths; Our bruised arms hung up for monuments; Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings,Our dreadful marches to delightful measures.Grim-visaged war hath smooth’d his wrinkled front.
Praising El Al in Israel's current situation - analysis
It’s been five months since the October 7 massacre, 150 days with over 100 hostages still being kept like animals in Gaza. Israeli soldiers were killed almost daily, and the fog of war remains as thick as ever. Friends, role makers, consumers, lend me your ears. I come not to bury El Al, but to praise it. El Al just announced that its profit rose 370% in the last quarter of 2023. This translates into almost $40 million.
CBAM - Is your business ready to comply?
With the first CBAM reporting deadline approaching, read our five-step plan to ensure your business is ready to comply. In brief CBAM compliance is a cross-functional issue, and it is critical that all relevant functions in your businesses are aligned from the start. Data will be one the biggest hurdles businesses face in ensuring they can report efficiently under CBAM, and therefore determine whether they are compliant.
Travel to Israel will take time to recover - opinion Original
Antisemitism may have come to the surface in places where we thought it would never again exist, but taking a trip or a pilgrimage to Israel is not the antidote Diaspora Jews are seeking. It is the end of December, and anyone who says they knew the war would still be occurring nearly three months later is a bald-faced liar.
Israel-Hamas war: Which airlines will fly to and from Israel now?
TRAVEL ADVISER: The sky is not falling; the war will end. Airlines will return to Israel. How soon until we hear the normal complaints of high prices and poor service remains a mystery. We are approaching almost seven weeks since the horrific massacre of October 7, a day that will live with us forever. Already by that evening, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared this was war. That pronouncement led to dozens of airlines running from Israel with their tails between their legs.
Can you travel to and from Israel during the war with Hamas? Original
Do you want to purchase a ticket from an airline that is not flying this month? Do you want to risk scrambling to find a different airline in case the war has not yet ended? Let us first state that for now, very few airlines are flying in and out of Israel. This may change, but if you need to travel in the next few weeks, your options are quite limited.
Travel advice from those wanting to escape the war - Expert
We need to be very clear: we are in the middle of the fog of war. This uncertainty regarding one's own capability as well as the capability of our adversary resonates throughout the country. Most of us understand this is our 9/11 and the questions that will be asked once we win the war are plentiful. I wanted to try to bring some clarity to the transportation challenges, be it by sea or by air that have enveloped us and will not lift until the war has ended.
What is Kiwi.com and why is it important?
The kiwi is a unique and curious bird: it cannot fly, and has loose, hairlike feathers, strong legs and no tail. Kiwi berries are edible fruits the size of a large grape, similar to fuzzy kiwifruit in taste and internal appearance but with a thin, smooth green skin. Kiwi International Air Lines was an American airline that operated from September 21, 1992, for almost seven years. It was headquartered in Newark, and in its brief history, the airline flew eight million passengers without incident.
A tale of three airlines - El Al, Delta, and American
El Al has had a checkered history of late, having dealt successfully with their unions and coming through the pandemic with a new team, new ideas, and new staff. A new owner, Kenneth Rozenberg, a recent immigrant from the United States, injected millions into El Al along with a vital cash injection from the Israeli government. Simultaneously, the number of employees was reduced dramatically, allowing El Al to exit the pandemic as a far leaner airline.
Why are the Balkans overlooked by Israelis as a travel destination?
When it comes to travel, politics plays a large role. When a leader makes antisemitic comments, few of us ignore the insults, and we do our utmost to avoid traveling to that country. We’ve seen in the past few years when a country covets us, be it the United Arab Emirates, Morocco or Egypt, the planes are filled with tourists eager to spend their hard currency.
As long as consumer confidence stays high, Israeli tourism will survive
When you’re looking for the disruptors that might keep tourism and aviation executives up at night, you might look to fluctuating fuel prices, widespread grounding of planes due to a continued shortage of both planes and pilots, and the seemingly never-ending series of carriers going bankrupt.
For airlines, more destinations mean more problems
According to recent reports, Israel may soon join the club of countries whose citizens can fly to the US on the US Visa Waiver Program, if the Israeli government meets certain requirements. While most Jerusalem Post readers may not be affected by any change in the visa policy, the airlines that fly most frequently between the United States and Israel could see a substantial increase in traffic originating from Ben-Gurion Airport, were such a monumental policy change to be enacted.
Morocco-Israel tourism - not a mirage
The connection between Israel and Morocco runs exceedingly deep. Located at the northwestern edge of Africa, Morocco lies only a few miles away from Europe. For centuries, Morocco served as the link between the two continents. Due to this particular geographical location, the country was exposed to a myriad of cultural influences. This included the native Berbers, sub-Saharan African Jews, the Romans and the Phoenicians.

Are Change fees for airlines gone? What else has changed for air travel?
The political landscape is ripe with change, in Israel, Europe and the United States. Many readers will remember Israel actually had a party whose name was Change. Shinui, the Hebrew name for change, was a Zionist, secular, free-market liberal party. It was also a political movement in Israel that in 1977 won 15 seats as part of the Democratic Movement for Change.
How to save air travel in 2023, amid wars and rising costs
News flash: If you thought that traveling in 2022 was expensive, after more than two years of pent-up desire, I am here to report that 2023 will see even higher fares. So many in the industry were of the belief that after several strong months of incessant travel, easily surpassing pre-pandemic times of 2019, a certain serenity would return to the industry. Industry experts were of the belief that this heightened demand would recede, come the fall and winter months.

Wanderlust in Israel - why and to where do people travel?
One does not need to watch the news, read the paper or follow social media to see reports almost daily of the chaos at airports around the world. Never has there been such a rush to leave the country, enjoy the food at 35,000 feet (10,000 meters), wander the streets of another city and too often come back sick. The summer has seen an enthusiastic eruption of desire to travel, like never before.
Israeli tourism is on the way back to pre-pandemic highs
As Summer gradually draws to a close, a report from the Tourism Ministry shows that Israel’s hot (and lately rocket-heavy) weather this year hasn’t put a damper on incoming tourism. In fact, the tourism industry is on its way to record highs, currently falling only 22% shy of 2019’s record numbers.
Flying through Saudi Arabia makes Israeli flights shorter, not cheaper
The recent visit by US President Joe Biden was an opportunity for an enormous amount of goodwill to be generated. His kneeling at the Yad Vashem museum to speak to two Holocaust survivors was one of the visual highlights of his trip. The Jerusalem Declaration signed by the leaders of the United States and Israel strengthened once more the very special relationship between the two countries.
Technology that meets the brief: how law firm Leman innovates with IT
By Mark Feldman, Strategic Relationship Manager, SureSkills When Leman Solicitors LLP set itself a goal of going paperless, there were no half measures. All of the firm’s 70 staff are encouraged to use multiple monitors on their desks to review and mark up electronic documents instead of hard copies. There are tightly restricted quotas on the number of pages everyone can print. Its office is free of files and folders by design.
Is Turkey safe for Israeli tourists yet?
Let us be very clear: Terrorism represents an ongoing threat to tourists and tourist infrastructures. Even if the attacks against tourists are relatively infrequent, their human and economic impacts are often very significant. There are almost no years without an attack against touristic targets somewhere in the world, in relation to local or global conflicts. We are approaching the six-year anniversary of the Istanbul airport attack.
What the ELAL and Ben Gurion crisis is all about
The days are getting longer; with or without global warming, it is getting hot and sticky in this part of the world. “May you live in interesting times” is neither an ancient Chinese curse nor a blessing, but merely expresses the thought of how much better life would be if we lived in times of peace and tranquility rather than in times, such as ours, filled with troubles. The world by and large survived a pandemic.
A time for spring renewal: El Al's first female CEO
The US Supreme Court may have appointed its first female black justice, but El Al’s recent announcement that, for the first time in its history, a woman will be the CEO not only shattered the glass ceiling but eviscerated it. Dina Ben Tal Ganancia, at age 48, has been with El Al for 14 years and has seen six previous leaders of El Al fall by the wayside. Most resigned before they were fired for malfeasance. Some, like Eliezer Shkedy, took responsibility.
Travel is back, so are scammers: Here's how to not get scammed
You can feel it in the air, read it in the newspapers, see it on social media: Travel is back. After nearly two years of stop-and-go travel, with countries banning all visitors and tourists seen as the carriers of the plague, evidence supports that, in the short term, travelers are testing the waters. Inexpensive airfares, both in economy and business classes, have receded; in fact, business travel between Israel and the United States has returned to pre-pandemic levels.
Tourists will come back, but will Israeli infrastructure survive?
Most of us know that “mea culpa,” which means “through my fault” in Latin, is simply an acknowledgment of one’s fault or error. In the battle over COVID-19, very few politicians or health officials have ever uttered those words. In the nearly two-year battle, we have seen governments rise and fall, politicians elected and defeated; and, throughout the world, how they battled this insipid virus has been with a clarion call aimed at the masses.
Israel's COVID-19 travel restrictions make no sense - comment
There has been lots of head-scratching since last Friday, when the World Health Organization decided that B.1.1.529, the new COVID-19 variant that was first detected in South Africa, would be named Omicron. In doing so, the WHO decided to skip over two letters in the Greek alphabet: Nu and Xi. Now why couldn’t they simply call it Omega, which is far easier to pronounce and possesses more of a mystery?
COVID-19: How can Israel safely open its doors to tourists?
Color me tickled pink; the sounds of foreign languages are once again echoing on the sidewalks of downtown Jerusalem. The beaches in Tel Aviv are now filled with chiseled men and a bevy of beauties. Tourist buses are bustling to find a parking space inside the Old City of Jerusalem, and the hotels are bursting at the seams. Oh, the sights I yearn to see. Sadly, everything I’ve described has yet to take place.
Reexamining Overdraft Programs: A Guide for Financial Institutions — Financial Health Network
Among those who overdraw their accounts, more than 40% do so infrequently, with one to three incidents annually. On the other hand, more than 25% overdraw frequently, with at least 10 overdrafts or non-sufficient funds fees annually. Among frequent overdrafters, 50% are very frequent users, with 20 or more overdrafts annually. For these customers, overdraft can be a substantial cost and a significant drag on their financial health, and it could cause them to leave the banking sector altogether.
Opinion | For the sake of the kids, don’t write off the school year just yet Original
By Daphne KorczakContributors Mark Feldman Mon., May 3, 2021timer3 min. read Ontario policy-makers were warned. From the start of the pandemic, advocates for children and youth repeatedly cautioned that school closures — combined with other public health restrictions — would be devastating for kids, and that maintaining in-person school was critical to the health and development of an entire generation.
Africanist Press Reports - Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio is a thief
Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, and his wife, Fatima Jabbe Bio, collectively withdrew a total of over Le30 billion Leones (more than US$3 million) from the Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL), the country’s central bank, for alleged travel expenses in fiscal year 2020 alone, despite bans on international travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The era of conscious travel: COVID-19 is not behind us
Hearing experts and politicians opine that COVID-19 is behind us and that we should put it in our rearview mirror, I remain highly skeptical. While spring is here and hope springs eternal, the reality is that the life we’ve been living over a year is going to stay in effect in the airline and tourism industry for years.
Coronavirus: Israel's airport policy turns the country into a prison
As a result of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 the skies were closed for three days. It has been two weeks that Israel has closed its skies in an effort to lower the rate of COVID-19 infection. During that time, Mara’s brother died in the United States; Efrat’s father is in a hospice in Jersey; Elena’s brother is undergoing cancer treatment out West; Edan must get to university; Terry runs the ER department in New Jersey. All of the above have both Israeli and US passports.
