What was your first job as a journalist?

I worked for a sports website called FanSided covering the Nashville Predators of the NHL.

Social media is the go-to primary tool for news, especially breaking news, for quite some time.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Shane Ryan at Golf Digest wrote a fictional story about a golfer that's stuck with me for quite a while.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

A truthful storyteller people rely on.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

hashtags aren't a thing anymore

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

WordPress, social media, photo editing software.

The Masters' social media accounts.

Why did you become a journalist?

I randomly started a blog covering the Nashville Predators during my junior year of college, got hooked on the process, and here we are.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I went to the Bahamas to write a story about the islands being open after they were hit by a hurricane. Great trip, wonderful people.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Be a team player from day one, enjoy the grind of creating a story, and celebrate wins.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

Come play TPC Sawgrass and potentially interview Rory McIlroy. It worked out.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

Interviewing a professional golfer's caddie at a chicken restaurant.

What's your favorite drink?

Water. Sometimes water that contains hops.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

The golf course or with my wife and son.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Anything from CBS golf writer Kyle Porter.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That golf isn't as popular as it actually is. The sport and beat have never been better or more entertaining.
