High-fat diet accelerates pancreas pathology in the Cel-HYB1 mouse model
Abstract Introduction: The CEL gene encodes the pancreatic enzyme carboxyl ester lipase. The human CEL-HYB1 allele, a hybrid variant of CEL and its adjacent pseudogene CELP, is associated with a five-fold increased risk for chronic pancreatitis in European cohorts. Humanized Cel-HYB1 mice develop chronic pancreatitis spontaneously albeit with a relatively mild presentation. The aim of this study was to further characterize the pancreatic phenotype in Cel-HYB1 mice.

The medical device market in the United States is a $60 billion industry and continues to grow at a significant rate. In general, the primary target demographic for the medical device market is not the patients themselves but, rather, healthcare providers who are seeking new and innovative medical devices to improve basic procedural outcomes and patient quality of life.
Save Time and Money by Designing for Manufacturing
Q: What opportunities and/or challenges does the growing pressure to control the rising costs of healthcare present to medical device designers and manufacturers? Demands from the marketplace for smaller, lower-cost products challenge medical device designers to solidify their understanding of the product’s minimum requirements. In component selection, there are often a variety of technologies available, and there are associated factors to be weighed. Force sensors are one example.
