Metal-Metal Communication Between 1,1’ Bis(diphenylphosphino)cobaltocenium and an Organonickel Moiety
Metal-Metal Communication Between 1,1’ Bis(diphenylphosphino)cobaltocenium and an Organonickel Moiety 1,1’-Bis(diphenylphosphino)cobaltocenium (dppc)+, similar to 1,1’-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene, can be coordinated by dicarbonylnickel(0) or cyclopentadienylnickel(II), respectively. The cyclic voltammogram of [Ni(CO)2(dppc)]+ ([1]+) showed two reversible reductions, at potentails nearly identical to (dppc)+.
[(η6-p-Cymene)[3-(pyrid-2-yl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine]chlororuthenium(II)]+, Redox Noninnocence and Dienophile Addition to Coordinated Tetrazine
The bidentate ligand 3-(pyrid-2-yl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine (TzPy) coordinated in the complex [CyRuCl(TzPy)]PF6 ([1]+; Cy = η6-p-cymene) shows noninnocent behavior and can be modified through the addition of dienophiles, vinylferrocene (ViFc) or ethynylferrocene (EthFc). The kinetics and transition-state thermodynamic analysis of the reaction of [1]+ + ViFc found ΔG⧧(298 K) = 67 kJ mol–1, while that of [1]+ + EthFc was ΔG⧧(298 K) = 83 kJ mol–1.

Correction to “Polyfunctional Imidazolium Aryloxide Betaine/Lewis Acid Catalysts as Tools for the Asymmetric Synthesis of Disfavored Diastereomers”
Page 12035 and Supporting Information pp S91–S94. It has come to our attention that the wrong initial concentration of 1a was erroneously used in two experiments of the “same excess” protocol.(1) The experiments were thus repeated (0.055 rather than 0.06 mol/L of 1a was erroneously used before), and an excellent overlay of the “time-adjusted same excess” reaction profiles and the standard reaction profile, as previously presented, was found.
Polyfunctional Imidazolium Aryloxide Betaine/Lewis Acid Catalysts as Tools for the Asymmetric Synthesis of Disfavored Diastereomers
Enzymes are Nature’s polyfunctional catalysts tailor-made for specific biochemical synthetic transformations, which often proceed with almost perfect stereocontrol. From a synthetic point of view, artificial catalysts usually offer the advantage of much broader substrate scopes, but stereocontrol is often inferior to that possible with natural enzymes.

Stabilization of Low-Valent Iron(I) in a High-Valent Vanadium(V) Oxide Cluster
Low-valent iron centers are critical intermediates in chemical and bio-chemical processes. Herein, we show the first example of a low-valent FeI center stabilized in a high-valent polyoxometalate framework. Electrochemical studies show that the FeIII-functionalized molecular vanadium(V) oxide (DMA)[FeIIIClVV O Cl]3? (DMA=dimethylammonium) features two well-defined, reversible, iron-based electrochemical reductions which cleanly yield the FeI species (DMA)[FeIClVV O Cl]5?.

Cane Sugar Walnuts-A Simple and Amazing Treat!
Today I am going to share an amazing and simple treat for those of us who need an amazing and simple treat today! The truth is, I am on a special diet regarding sugar. My stomach can’t process refined sugars. When I eat them, I get very sick and feel bad for days. I’m not sure why this is so, but for some reason, Pure Cane Sugar is totally fine for me! Rather than search labels until I can’t see straight, I have come up with a few easy to make treats that really quench my sweet tooth.
Stuffed Pork Loin With Port Berry Sauce
Mark has been working in the kitchen since he was a young boy on a farm in Indiana. Ignoring his mother's advice, he chose to pass up culinary school and eventually bought a small diner in Indiana which he owned and operated and enjoyed immensely, though he rarely slept during this period. Now, Mark is an avid food reader, writer and enthusiast, trying to spread the word of unique foods to people around the globe.
Stuffed Pork Loin With Port Berry Sauce
It is amazing to me that Pork is so cheap right now. And from where I stand, good quality pork can be purchased for very little. This makes my meal planning that much easier, especially when I find recipes like the one I am featuring today; Stuffed Pork Loin with Port Berry Sauce! Now the genesis for this recipe begins with a recipe I saw on a television show. It originally used veal, but since veal was $29 per pound when I last checked, I decided to make some changes to the recipe.
Barbecue Pork Ribs-Marks Rub(Almost Famous)
If I’m being honest, making Barbecued Pork Ribs is probably my favorite culinary task. I am a big fan of eating them, make no mistake. Cooking them though is truly one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen. There is just so much art to it. So many different variables in the process. A little more heat here, a little more sweetness there, the adjustments can make for a really enjoyable 10-12 hours. The ribs I am making today are a bit different in another way.
The Algonquin Bloody Mary-
Today I want to give a shout out to all of those who invent adult beverages. It amazes me how we take these drink recipes for granted. Look at the simplicity of the Manhattan, or just a dry Martini. Sure, they are easy to make, but to invent, ahhh! I’ve tried to come up with my own original drink ideas and have failed miserably. Really, try to come up with a new, original drink idea that doesn’t make your face hurt. It really is quite difficult.

The Original Root Beer Stand Revisited. Always a Pleasure!
Six years ago I wrote about the Original Root Beer Stand(ORS) on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee in beautiful Culver Indiana. At the time, I wrote from the perspective of an outsider. I now spend more time in the area, and I feel an updated review is in order. In reality, not much has changed in six years, and that is a good thing. I think many times, especially when restaurants change hands, an old favorite can become almost unrecognizable.
Punch Neapolitan Pizzaria
Infrequently in life, you hear a boast of perfection, and it turns out to be true. I had this experience on my latest visit to the Twin Cities in Minnesota. I think the key here is that the boast came from someone other than the restaurant itself. Self-promotion is always up for interpretation, but when outside sources say you are perfect, then look out.
