Running Back Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 9
Jeremy McNichols (above) and Adrian Peterson are ranked back-to-back for Week 9 in the aftermath of Derrick Henry's injury Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports While many of the top 10 running backs are the starters that fantasy managers drafted in the early rounds, the next group of running backs (the RB2s) are a lot of backups, filling in for injured starters. In Chicago, when David Montgomery went down, it seemed that Damien Williams would be the next man up.
Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 7: The Curious Case of Mike Davis and Other RB/WR Fantasy Advice
Mike Davis hasn't put up great numbers this season but with six teams on bye in Week 7 you may not have a choice Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports With Week 7 being "Mega Bye Week" or whatever other stupid and unoriginal name people are calling it, things will get a little wacky for fantasy managers this week. So we are gonna mix it up a little bit for my Week 7 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em recommendations for running backs and wide receivers. I usually give you two sits and two starts each for both positions.
Defense/Special Team Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 6
It's no trick that Aaron Donald and the Rams DST may have a big game on Sunday against the banged-up Giants The reoccurring theme for my Week 6 fantasy positional rankings closely adhering to the ECR (Expert Consensus Rankings) is most apparent in my defense/special teams (DST) list. I'm not sure I've ever been this closely aligned! I'm actually concerned about how closely aligned I am, so let's just talk about this week's top DST option, the Los Angeles Rams. We start with the matchup.
Kicker Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 6
Mason Crosby was the poster boy for kicking struggles in Week 5, missing three field goal attempts and one PAT before winning it in overtime with a 49-yarder So Week 5 of the 2021 season was not exactly a banner week for NFL kickers. It got to be so bad, I had this well-known clip running continuously in my mind while watching the games. Maybe we should just skip to the Week 6 kicker rankings? Nah. It wasn't quite this bad... But it was bad.
Flex Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 6
In PPR formats, AJ Dillon provides a solid flex option Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports Fantasy managers look at the flex spot as a place to put the next best player on their team. Often it is a simple decision, but not always. AJ Dillon, for example, is a great flex option. He's ranked as an RB3, although that may be a bit high. However, for a flex spot, he is someone who had four receptions on four targets in Week 5. He had a receiving touchdown as well.
NFL Predictions: Week 6 Picks for Every Game
Athlon's experts pick every winner for every game on the Week 6 slate Week 6 of the NFL season starts the byes and teams aren't the only ones that need a breather looking back at an extremely eventful start to the 2021 campaign. Five games in and there's only one undefeated team left and plenty of storylines abound, including the latest rash of injuries that could impact how the next few weeks, if not the rest of the season, play out.
Tight End Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 6
With byes now part of the equation, Cole Kmet could be a solid fill-in option this week Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports I am pretty aligned with the ECR (Expert Consensus Rankings) across my own this week and my Week 6 fantasy tight end rankings are no different. The biggest exception might be down around the bottom of the TE2 range where I have Cole Kmet as a top-20 TE this week and the ECR does not. And it's still rather minor. But let's talk about Kmet. Kmet is clearly the TE1 on this team.
Quarterback Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 6
Despite a disappointing start, Patrick Mahomes hasn't been supplanted as the No. 1 fantasy QB. At least not yet. My Week 6 fantasy quarterback rankings are pretty aligned with the ECR (Expert Consensus Rankings). The biggest difference is I have Trevor Lawrence closer to 20 and the ECR has him closer to 15. If you've been consulting my rankings this season, you know that's nothing. The same is true for me liking Lamar Jackson more than Kyler Murray or Tom Brady this week.
Wide Receiver Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 6
With so many injuries on the Giants, Kadarius Toney might be a good start Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports While it is usually the running back injuries that fantasy managers take note of, there have been plenty of wide receiver injuries as well. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Quintez Cephus were two more players to go down in Week 5 and are likely out for the rest of the season.
Flex Rankings: NFL Fantasy Week 5
Allen Robinson is a WR3/flex player because of his quarterback Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports Fantasy owners looking to fill their flex spot may have opted for Cordarrelle Patterson in Week 4 and were rewarded with 35 rushing yards... and five receptions for 82 yards and THREE touchdowns. Those numbers are way out of the flex range, but Patterson is still a borderline flex player (depending on your league's format, he would likely be an RB2 but not quite a WR2).
Start 'em, Sit 'em Week 1: Saquon Barkley and Other RB/WR Fantasy Advice
Saquon Barkley is expected to be back in Week 1 but that doesn't mean he should start in fantasy In some ways, Week 1 is the hardest week to make start/sit decisions in fantasy football, and in other ways, it is the easiest week. It's the hardest because we have zero regular-season NFL games to make our decisions. However, it also is the easiest because we drafted the way we did for a reason. Of course, that doesn't mean we are right! But allow me to lay out the rules for this column.
