This means that we can get some useful information by comparing team’s times so far. The easiest way to do this is with our Swimulator. Swimulator runs a projection of a meet using best times from this season respecting reasonable event choices and the three event limit (no diving).
Mundial Hangzhou: Reino Unido solo lleva a 3 nadadores

Scotland Looking Dangerous In Men's IM
The men’s individual medley events at Commonwealth Games are looking completely wide open. Like many of the events the British and Australian swimmers come in as the top seeds, but these two in particular have no clear favorite. There are seven swimmers who come into the men’s 200 IM having gone sub-2:00 during the last year. Australian Clyde Lewis leads the pack after going a best of 1:58.06 at the 2017 World Championships.
Men's Class of 2015-2018
Every summer, we rank down the top recruiting classes snagged by each team. But what do those rankings look like four years later, when each swimmer has had an opportunity to complete a full NCAA career of competing and scoring? We’ve already looked back at our top 20 individual athletes in the high school graduating class of 2014, ranked when they were high school juniors in the summer of 2013.
2018 M. NCAA Finals Preview: What Other Barriers Can Dressel Break?
Friday night finals at the 2018 Men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will feature the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and 200 medley relay; and boy, are we in for a treat. Each race has shaped up to be a thriller for a number of reasons. Let’s take a look at what’s to come. 400 IM – For the first time ever, it took under 3:40 to make the A-final in this event.
"Last year at NC's tipped the scale"
The 200 IM was a thrilling four-way race in the middle lanes. In fact, the top four were separated by just two tenths at the 100 mark. Florida’s Jan Switkowski had the late fire, though, blasting a field-best 24.0 free split to snag the win in 1:39.54. That makes him the third-fastest in history and just the third man ever under 1:40. Meanwhile NC State’s Andreas Vazaios also broke that barrier, going 1:39.97 for silver. Last year’s co-champion Mark Szaranek was third in 1:40.27.
2018 Men's NCAA 200 IM Yields 5 of 11 Fastest Swimmers In History
In a massive surge of IM performances, this year’s NCAA Championships produced 5 of the fastest 11 200 IMers in history. This morning, Cal’s Andrew Seliskar went 1:40.40 to take the top qualifying spot. At the time, that ranked him #7 all-time. As of tonight’s final, Seliskar has been bumped from the all-time top 10. That’s because four men topped his prelims time, effectively rewriting the all-time top IM list. Florida’s Jan Switkowski won in 1:39.54, the 3rd-fastest performance of all-time.
Day 2 Finals Live Recap
We are back! It’s been a record-setting first two sessions of men’s NCAAs, and tonight’s six event finals should prove no different. The headliner, as always, is Caeleb Dressel‘s continuing assault on the concept of impossibility. The Florida Gator went 18.11 for the fastest 50 free in history this morning, and will look to finish his NCAA Championships career undefeated in this event. He’s got Olympian Ryan Held and breakout Minnesota star Bowe Becker in his rearview mirror heading into the final.
Day 2 Prelims Live Recap
After an explosive opening night, the 2018 Men’s NCAA Championships resume this morning with our first prelims session. A pair of Florida Gators will look to defend their 2017 national titles. Caeleb Dressel is the headliner – the do-everything star will try to win his fourth-straight NCAA 50 free title and challenge his own American record of 18.20. Meanwhile Mark Szaranek looks to claim sole possession of the 200 IM title after tying with now-graduated Will Licon last year.
Switkowski Blasts 1:39.5 200 IM to Become #3 All-Time
The 200 IM final at the 2018 NCAA Championships was loaded, as 5 men entered the championship heat with best times in the 1:40-range: Cal’s Andrew Seliskar, Florida’s defending champion Mark Szaranek, Georgia’s Gunnar Bentz, NC State’s Andreas Vazaios, and Stanford’s Abrahm DeVine. In prelims, Cal’s Seliskar broke 1:40 for the first time, becoming the 7th fastest performer ever with the 9th fastest performance ever in 1:40.40.
Watch Switkowski & Vazaios Battle in 200 IM
Florida senior Jan Switkowksi earned his individual event victory of his NCAA career, as he outdueled NC State senior Andreas Vazaios to become the first men to finish under 1:40 in the same race. You watch the race in the video below, with the event actually beginning around the 1:30 mark. T The 200 IM was a thrilling four-way race in the middle lanes. In fact, the top four were separated by just two tenths at the 100 mark.
"We'll have to go back and look for something to be wrong" (Video)
The biggest fireworks came at the beginning, with Caeleb Dressel shattering perhaps the most hallowed barrier in swimming: 18 seconds in a 50 free. Dressel led off in an insane 17.81, staking Florida to such a massive lead that no other team could come back, even as only one of Florida’s remaining swimmers broke 19. Dressel’s time annihilates the American, NCAA and U.S. Open records and makes him the fastest in history by seven tenths of a second.

2018 M. NCAA Picks: For 1st Time in Years, No Clear Favorite in 200 IM
For the past few years, it was pretty easy to call this race. In 2015, David Nolan was the obvious #1 choice after he broke the American Record at Pac 12s. Will Licon‘s runner-up finish as a sophomore this year led him being the odds-on favorite the past two years, and he delivered, although Florida’s Mark Szaranek nearly pulled an upset when he tied Licon last year.

Caeleb Dressel's Record Swims At SECs
Florida senior Caeleb Dressel had an incredible performance at his final SEC Championships last month, winning three individual titles along with three relay titles. His most impressive performances came in a pair of “off-events”, as he broke the NCAA and American Records in both the 200 IM and 100 breast, two events he had never swum at a championship level meet. Dressel won’t swim those events again at his final NCAAs, instead opting back to his usual lineup of 50 free/100 free/100 fly.
2018 M. NCAA Picks: Frosh Aim for Podium in Senior-Heavy 400 IM Field
With last year’s fourth-place finisher Gunnar Bentz (injury) failing to secure an invite in this event and not looking like he’ll pull off an upset in his bonus event, and 2017 champion Chase Kalisz graduated, the men’s 400 IM is set to see some fresh faces in the A final. Auburn Freshman Hugo Gonzalez had an absolute breakout meet at the 2018 SEC Championships.
Mark Szaranek Swimming 200 Breast At NCAAs
The 2018 Men’s NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships pre-selection sheet was released this morning, and while there weren’t a ton of big surprises revealed, the lists do reveal a couple moves that we expected. One of those movies that Florida senior Mark Szaranek will be competing in the 200 breast at NCAAs for the first time.
Scoring the NCAA Men's D1 Pre-Selection Psych Sheet
The pre-selection psych sheet was released this morning. The main purpose of this document is figuring out who qualified for the meet (our cut line analysis here). However, while this isn’t the final official psych sheet, the cut line will fall well below the scoring swimmers at 16th place and any event changes will be minor. Therefore scoring out this psych sheet gives a fairly valid impression of where teams stand heading into the meet.
Edinburgh Making Moves As A Formidable Foe
The University of Edinburgh swimming contingency is on the rise, capturing an impressive collection of hardware at the Edinburgh International Swim Meet, incorporating the British National Championships, this past weekend. Commonwealth Games-bound Kathryn Greenslade performed well under heavy training, capturing the 200m freestyle gold in 1:58.53, while nabbing bronze in the 200m back in 2:12.18. Winning that 200m back was teammate Lizzie Simmonds, who also took the 100m sprint in 1:00.65.
Caeleb Dressel Returns to Traditional Events for NCAA Championships
Caeleb Dressel’s exploration of his breaststroking and IM skills has come to an end, at least for his collegiate career. The 2018 Men’s NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship pre-selection psych sheets were released on Tuesday morning, and with it came the revelation that Dressel would return to his more traditional schedule of 50 free, 100 fly, 100 free on days 2, 3, and 4 of the 2018 NCAA Championships. That’s the same event that he’s raced in each of his 4 seasons of collegiate swimming.
