Mark Thompson

As an author and travel journalist, I am a member of Authors Guild, Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), New York Travel Writers, PEN America, and AWP. I have been published in various periodicals including National Geographic, Travel Weekly, OutThere, Out, Metrosource, Frontiers, Global Traveler. As a novelist, I have been an artist-in-residence at various artists’ communities including MacDowell, Yaddo, Blue Mountain Center, and Sewanee Writers’ Conference. During my doctorial studies for my Ph.D. in American Studies, I taught Expository and Creative Writing at New York University. My dissertation focuses on the cultural impact of the frontier myth in the literature of California.
