Supercharged AI cyberattacks: Cannabis Businesses Are Not Ready.
Illustration: mg Creative More than 100 companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Cisco, signed an open letter this week warning that AI cyberattacks are poised to scale dramatically. The letter, organized by OpenAI, also drew support from banks, insurers, and security companies including CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, and Mastercard.
When the Aggressor Becomes the Target
Key insights: Curaleaf has announced its intention to make an unsolicited offer for Aurora Cannabis but has not formally commenced the bid. Aurora won its hostile pursuit of CanniMed only after substantially increasing its offer and adding cash; Green Growth Brands’ hostile bid for Aphria failed. Aurora faces declining Canadian medical revenue, but CAD$149.1 million in cash, equivalents, and short-term investments with no debt give its board room to deliberate.
Vireo’s Planet 13 Deal Is about More than Store Count
Vireo Growth’s announcement that it will acquire Planet 13 emphasized the assets and projected scale typical of a major acquisition: a marquee Las Vegas superstore, a Florida footprint, and a path to becoming the country’s largest dispensary operator by store count. What the announcement did not emphasize is that Vireo is paying a premium for a company whose first-quarter revenue fell by roughly one-quarter as its net loss quadrupled.

The Castle Cup is a seriously good time
A men’s group has been enjoying an annual day of competition since 2018. It is called The Castle Cup. According to Mark Voss, an unofficial committee member and organizer of The Castle Cup, it started as a way to celebrate the end of the Village men’s 4.0 tennis team season. Tennis, golf and cocktails make up the triathlon day. Random partners are paired for doubles tennis and two-man scramble golf pairings make up the competition. The day is capped off with an evening awards ceremony.

Why Nothing's Changed for England Under Gareth Southgate Despite Cruising to World Cup Qualification
It's over. No blood, sweat or tears. England have once again topped their World Cup qualifying group with ease. Despite dominating at the top of the tree, much of the hysteria surrounding England’s chances at another main event seem to be out of sight. The feeling seems to be that the Three Lions are in actual fact on the road to nowhere - and this time the majority of fans will not be drawn in to any of the usual hope or hype.
